What NOT to do with your four stroke mountain sled!

J is right.

It's only a problem if the EVAC system is used with the ECP filters. And then it's only a problem (if you're a dip sh!t, Like me) and run the EVAC line straight out of your crank case vent into the "T" in the EVAC between your filters.

There are a couple other ways to route the EVAC lines to prevent this but I hadn't entertained their more complicated routing until now.

I am (was) using the straight from the crankcase breather to the evac line "T" connection method which dumped oil directly into the carbs.

I see others have mounted a crankcase "T" ed into the valve cover mounted vent line on the steering support post. I can't see if the hose on this one comes out of the oil catch basin or straight off the crank case vent line. I would think it must come from the stock catch basin?

Another method comes out of the "T" between the carbs and goes UP and back into the stock oil collection basin. My only question here is where does the condensation end up? It does make sense in the fact that it would in effect create a "trap" that would not allow oil a direct shot to the carbs when the sled is upside down.

Yes, oil drained into my carbs but that is a merely an issue of changing line routing and only if you use EVAC lines (which are an option for ECP filters).

ECP filters (besides being cool looking and sounding) don't pose many problems at all. I sure think I can feel the difference (especially in the midrange) and I wouldn't even think of going back to a stock airbox (or a tupperware airbox for that matter) until I sell my sled.

So Aaron, don't count out filters because of my poor line routing. Learn from my mistake and route your EVAC lines like the Dooman (and mine shortly).

Last week while riding in Cooke City I got myself into trouble that required me putting the sled on it's head then; spin it 180 degrees and upright it again. I had inpassable trees below me and had to turn it around on the hill. My sled dumped aprox 1/2 qt out the breather hose that is used with the SC kit. Here's pics of the predicament that required this action and the breather hose running parallel to the water hose across the top of the valve covers.

Thanks for the pictures. I still haven't tried the red springs yet. Sorry.

Cooke City sure looks good! I am supposed to be there next week but I'm not 100% sure I will be going since I will be driving there alone (to meet a cousin of my wife's).
