My 08 Apex MTX has an 8" riser on it (from the previous owner). When you turn the handles all the way to either side, it revs the motor. Need to get a smaller riser. I'm really only an ice fisherman, so I don't need it to be set up for aggressive riding. If I understand right, a 6" riser was stock? A 4" or 6" would be fine with me.
I asked my Yamaha dealer what I could get for a riser, and they said I need one that's more expensive than normal because it needs a pivot at the top, like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Rox...d=152631546287&_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Rox...d=152631546287&_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598
But the one on it doesn't have a pivot like that, it's just a riser with the handlebars clamped on. So what will work for me?

As I understand your post, the sled has an aftermarket riser on it? I think the throttle cable length must be maxed out if it is revving the sled at full turn.
As far as what is the original height of and MTX sled, would think 6" was stock.
I would sell the 8" aftermarket and get a used OEM 6" riser from a re-seller or someone parting out sleds.
Alternately, Travis at Barn of Parts could set you up.

That's correct. The throttle cable is getting stretched with the aftermarket riser. I'll look for an OEM 6" riser. Not finding one on Barn of Parts or FleaBay. I'll keep looking. Any suggestions?

SpaCity Sled Parts. Jim Hensel is a seller on this site and is great as well.

That a pivot on both ends? If so I've got a new 4.5 inch lake effect riser that I was going to put on my old turbo sled but I moved to another ride before I got around to making the swap.
