What size rivnut works for the skid plate ? I had a shop put them on 2 Apexs and both are falling off.

Thanks!

I got mine from McMaster-Carr. I think they are a little longer than the ones that came with the skid plates.

Work great. M6 X 1 Internal thread. 4.2-6.6mm Material thickness. Pack of ten

Part# 94020A387

A rivnut with 4.2 to 6.6mm grip range is exactly right. You do need some kind of tool homemade or otherwise to seat those rivnuts. There was a few articles on this a few years ago. Try a search for Rivnut install.

If you dont have the intall tool that came with the skid plate, you can use a correctly sized bolt with a few washers as well. It might not be as easy, but a tiny ammount of grease between the washers might help as well.
Just dont get the light duty rivnuts. Make sure it's the solid body type with knurling or "splines" on the outside. There are some that have cut-outs around the sides that make them seat easier, but those may not take the abuse as well and could end up lostening their grip making them a nighmare to remove later when necessary.

Found it. Do a search for skid plate rivnut install by a guy named gitrdun on November 10, 2007. There is a picture of homemade tool.

I just did 2 skid plates on my 07 gt and 2010 ltx. I used the longer ones from McMaster. An engineer here figured out Yami's were just a bit too short. I used these on my last 07 as well. They work good and are easy to put in. Better then Well nuts I feel.
Drill a hole with 25/64's drill. and use a home made rivnut tool.
McMaster part numbers. Only $ 6 for 10...
1 Pack 94020A387 Aluminum Open-End Knurled Rivet Nut M6 X 1 Internal Thread, 4.2 - 6.6 mm Material Thk, Packs of 10
Google home made rivnut to see how they do it. Or find it here....Home Made Riv Nut Tool I used
Tighten the rivnut tool until it gets harder. Don't get fooled and over tighten as it's aluminum and will strip the rivnut. It goes easy at first because it's aluminum but then tightens up. That's the point to stop. Easy to do really. I never stipped one and I must tell you they hold well. I even used one to repair a stripped out thread in the frame.
