I am currently riding an 03 RX1 that is stock. I just got back from a weekend riding with my buddies and am not happy with the performance of my sled. The engine, power, ans speed are about perfect. If we jumped off the trail I could not turn and I got stuck easily. I drove the same distance as everyone else but put on 5 miles more per day because my track spun that muck more than everyone elses. I think I want a longer track with deeper lugs and don't think it it worth putting the money into mine. Any sugestions on what sled you would recommend?

nytro xtx, vector ltx and maybe deeper lug track but don't go ripsaw, they suck in deep snow, great for on trail but not off. i've had two 136s with ripsaws and they just dig a hole.

APEX and make it a 144"

and add a set of mountain skis, and that makes a great setup for the Apex when you get offtrail.

Here's my humble opinion:
Unless you were planning on upgrading anyway or want to upgrade for other reasons, personally I would keep the RX1 and stretch it. If you buy any of the 136" Yamaha sleds I don't think you will see that much difference IMO unless you put a different track on it, so why not put a track in the RX1 and extend it?

If you don't want to invest much in the RX1, I would look on snowest.com for a good used track, and shop around for the best price on rail and tunnel extensions. You might end up with a pretty good price.

How much offtrail riding do you actually do?
