we used to ride doo's, till the dealer decided it would be better to be pushy and sell sleds instead of fix them. i started off on a 2000 formula deluxe 380. 28000 miles we put on that thing in 8 years. then a 2001 formula deluxe 500, then a 05 renegade. had dealer problems fixing the renegade in 2007, bought 2 08 vectors in 2007, and 2 2010 vectors in 2010, and a used 2010 phazer in 2011. we now have 5 yamaha's, and couldnt be happier.

Started on my Dad's 1968 Scorpin then left the sport when I got married and kids graduated from college. Got back and I've had 2001 Polaris Grand Turing, 2003 Polaris Classic, 2002 Polaris Classic, 2005 Ski-Do Renegade and now my 2012 Vector LTX. I still have the 2003 Classic because my wife doesn't want to part with it. I can't say I blame her, it is a nice handling sled and tracks straight and true from day one. I judge all sled against hers when I discuss handling with dealers.

Started sledding at the age of 30....on a 1992? Cat Jag 440, can't believe I rode that thing for two years!!!! Next was a 2003 AC ZL 600, great machine even had factory command start. Then it was on t a 2002 Yamaha VMax 600...best sounding machine I've owned, didn't handle that well though, nice hand Warmers. First new sled was my 2009 1200 Gade which now has almost 10,000km on it, still original belt.
Snow checked a 1200 Gade X for this year.....good call by me, no friggin snow. I would have no problem buying another Yamaha, really like the Vector, best looking machine on snow I think, just not real crazy about the seating position...maybe once they come out with a new chassis?

My List:
1984 Yamaha SS440
1986 Yamaha SRV
1987 Yamaha V-max
1991 Polaris RXL
1995 Polaris XLT Special
1996 Polaris XCR600SP
1997 Polaris XC600
1998 Yamaha SRX700
1997 Yamaha XTC700
2002 Ski-Doo MXZ700
2003 Polaris Pro-x700
2008 Polaris IQ700
2007 Yamaha Apex RTX
Had some great Polaris and Yammy machines over the years. The Mxz was junk and made me never want a Doo again.
Next will more than likely be a '12 Apex XTX.

Doo 1975-76
Cats 1977- 93
Doo 1994- 95
Polaris 1996- 97
Ricers 1998 to date [11 of them]
I'm a groomed trail rider so the choice is obvious. [ No light bouncy, darty, stinky sleds for me.
Doo's were great sleds at the time. Bulletproof then, now ,not so much. Good dealer and factory support.
Cats left me on the trail 3 times. Quality and dependability, not so good. Excellent dealer and Factory support.
1996 Polaris Ultra SP. Nuff said. 13 recalls, not allowed to drive it while waiting for parts. Died on the trail. Non existant head office support in Canada. I will never have another unless they are the last manufacturer remaining due to their non responiveness to me as a customer.
11 Yamahas varying from 7,000 to 15,000 km each. Never left on the trail by any of them. Donuts and bushings in two of them needed a year after I sold them. No repairs needed other than a waterpump in a 2001 700 triple which Yammie Canada covered even though the sled was out of warranty by two years. Bad Ohlins on the 06 Apex GT replaced by Yamaha after the warranty had run out. Fantastic dealer, Service rep and head office support.
I would consider another Cat or Doo if they had the right stuff. Right now Yammie rules the trail in QDR, engines and the whole package so I will likely be there awhile yet.

^^^^^^Ugh I thought I owned the worst Polaris with my 96 XCR600SP but man those Ultra's were awful. Guy here had one that he had to part out because no one would buy it. My XCR was a thrown together special that they released at the last minute to qualify for a new ice racing class for factory triple-tripple 600's. Clutching and jetting from Mars never got it to run right. I was happy to trade it for an XC the next year which was a much better sled.

Didn't get into sledding til I was 50 something in 2004
.
Since then I have had a Cat Jag, Cat 550EXT (still running with over 30K on it and never had the engine open), Doo Mach Z, and the current RX 1.
Never had a major issue with any of them, but if I was in the market for another, it would definetley be a Yammi!

Started with a 1970 Snow Cruiser when I was 14. '73 olympic , 72 Cheetah When we lived in Northern Ontario. Then sold them in 1980 and moved to Edmonton and didn't sled again until 2007 when we moved to Saskatchewan. Bought a '04 Panther. What a difference from 1980! This year we bought the '10 RS venture. Tired of the smoke and stink. Would have bought another Cat but the passenger handles hit my wife in the back of the leg and no apparent resolution. So far the Yammi is great.
