What track to get?

Well I am starting to think about the rtx again and my plans are to replace my oem track, it is due. Does anyone have any opions about tracks on these sleds, I don't know if I want to replace it with a new ripsaw or if there is a better one out there for all around aggresive trail use. I will stud it again, but I was also looking into the new ice claw track that seems to look like a ripsaw but has those 256 carbides built into the lugs.

Ice claw are good improvement over stock but you will not get the traction of a track with real stud.Opinion may change from different rider and what kind of performance you want ( trail,race,powder ),but if i change my track i will put a Camoplast predator 1 inch with 144 predrill hole for stud, and a full clip track too.And woody's gold digger 1.175 for maximum traction.

I agree with ROCKRTX on the lug size..... I want to change mine and if I do it will be the new Hacksaw. They are great track and are 3 lbs lighter than the ripsaw and will increase mid and top end performance. If you are going to stud, then the Hacksaw is the way to go with 144 1.175" megabytes up the middle for great traction. The Ripsaw is still to heavy and the reccomended 1.325 studs don't give enough penetration. The combination of a heavier track with longer studs that don't do much = slow top end and alot of spinning out of the hole, IMO.

Those Ice Claws are crap! I have one on a SRX and it wont move on any ice or loose snow! A 1" Predator with 192 1.175 will do it.

there are some new tracks out there for this season. Thinner ripsaws and a replacement for the 6 pitch track. http://www.camoplast.com/powersports/en ... racks.html

Need special studs for the thin ripsaw.

I was kind of wondering why they claimed special studs were needed. Maybe the gold diggers can't be used since they have a shoulder in them so that they can't be overtightend with the standard tracks.

With the way tracks fall apart as is, you'd think that going even thinner would be a huge mistake.... Don't go any further than you're prepared to walk back from.

FYI - The Six-Pitch/Predator design that has been around for awhile is not getting replaced - all that is happening is the name is being changed - I guess there was some legal rights issue with the Predator name in Canada. I have heard the new name of those tracks will be "Carve" but they are still getting it through legal. Once approved I believe they will insert that name on Camoplast's website.
