Barnstormer and I are curious as to what constitutes the phazer rear suspension kit...we know the link will be the major part, but what else is replaced?

T think it is something that you have to buy. It might be called Phazer race kit. Part # sma-8gcra-ce-kt 695.00

Amazingly Disappointed by False Advertising!!!!

I remember seeing all the videos of Jimmy Blaze and others riding the FX Phazer in rough conditions with large jumps. Yamaha basically represented that the Phazer was an "exteme sled." When I first saw the Phazer with its 16" of travel, I thought - nice - finally a big air sled from Yamaha!

I now am amazed to see the New Phazer Race Kit advertised on pg. 33 of the 2008 Yamaha Catalog for the low low price of $695.00. The kit includes: forth wheel kit; tunnel covers; torsion springs with mounting hardware; pivot link; rail braces; tunnel protectors; ISR ski loops; and a pair of 200-rate springs. The kit is "engineered to strengthen and stiffen your Phazer for handling exteme riding conditions."

When I purchased an 07 Phazer FX, I believed that it was fully capable of handling "exteme riding conditions" because that is what Yamaha advertised. Rather than buy the kit, I plan to spend $500.00 on a four year extended warranty, and to push my 07 Phazer FX to the limit, consistent with what Yamaha advertised.

If I break several rear links and if my torsion springs are toasted at 500 miles, Yamaha will incur the cost of the parts and labor. Maybe, just maybe, Yamaha will authorize installation of the "New" parts at no cost. If I sound a bit angry, I guess I never really got over the broken w-arms on my 04 Warrior, and Yamaha's insistance that there was no issue. :die

my sleds in the dealer for updates and I hope some of these itoms are replaced before they break. I think I'm getting a fan. but when I mentioned the saging rearend I was told about the upgrade kit. I too don't think it should be for extreem situations. My sleds saging and I'm 150lbs. Sagging today broken on the trail tomarrowI hope not. I'll post when I get my sled back

UW-- I hear ya on this, we shouldn't have to keep spending money on it to make it a better sled. It was soppose to be "The Better riding Sled"

I also have a the 4 year YES on my sled, I don't plan on paying for any of the new parts. Yamaha will fave to foot the bill.

SS-- When I get mine off the stand I will have to check out how much mine sags. Where are they measureing from?? :exc:

You'll end up like me. Broken down for 3 weeks of the riding season last year. And I run fast, but I certainly don't fly high...And all the while, Yamaha will insist it's you, no defect to speak of...

Well it's not a defect it's false advertising, fueled by bad engineering and choice of parts. The sled is a good idea and concept but I feel that they just didn't follow it up with good quality parts to complete the idea to make it reliable. I just did the same thing with the warranty. I'm going to make them sick and tired of me, untill I sell it when the warranty is up. Hopefully they will figure things out by then and actually make some changes to the sled. Love the design, but totally let down by the quality and service backing of Yamaha with this sled so far. Totally different than the service I've received for my Yamaha motorcycles.

Oh and one other thing I called to buy the heavier rate springs in this kit mentioned above and the dealer told me that they called Yamaha to get them for me and they (Yamaha) will "only sell the springs in a kit with all the parts." The only problem I have with this is that they sell most all the other parts separately and I have already bought and installed most of them. Bought and installed the 4th wheel kit, tunnel protectors, tunnel covers, and had the pivot link changed when I broke the original link. Then I have C&A Pro skis coming that I'm going to put on the sled so I don't need the ISR ski loops. So all that left is the rail braces and springs. Why can't I buy those individually like the rest??? Who knows, some other weird Yamaha service and parts decision that makes no sense what so ever.
