x2 remember the good old SERVO operated POWER VALVES on the '98 700 SRX! 1 more thing to service and up keep!!!
still cleaning power valves and adjusting on my viper, but i like doing it, clean & adjusted power valves make a huge difference in performance

It still has the dial on the side of the tunnel for the MONO RA.

thanks, so that kills that theory

Isn't that the servo for the EPS? Gotta dig the gusseted 'bridge' for the DB chassis. Glad to see Yam didn't give us (or actually you since I switched to Doo) a Nytro or Phazer styled sled.

Yamaha's patented Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve (EXUP) monitors engine rpm and adjusts exhaust flow for maximum performance at all rpms with no flat spots. This system also optimizes fuel economy and reduces emissions.
Here's an excellent tutorial on adjusting the EXUP valve. http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/exupmaintenance.html
Cheers!Err on the loose side when adjusting the cables. If they are the slightest bit too tight, you'll get the 7K error code. However, if you keep them a little loose, you'll be fine. I've had two bikes with EXUP valves (1995 FZR1000 & 2001 R1) and in over 80,000 miles between them I have NEVER had any issues with the valve or the cables. Keep them adjusted properly and at each oil change, pull the EXUP cover off and shoot some WD-40 up the cables and you'll be fine. You'll then be enjoying the awesome low end grunt that the EXUP delivers.
sounds good

This is a 4 stroke "EXUP" system no oil being burned? like on the "Srx" power valves

.Very simple system,no cleaning and light package very doable.Time will tell

NICE

Personally I would be happier with a 1052 versus a 1000 with EXUP. It would make more natural torque and be a lot simpler, and I would have to guess cheaper to build as fewer parts.
Now a 1052 with EXUP well... then I would be happy with the added complexity as you get the best of both

Torque is great for drivability and acceleration. Give me a nice broad torque curve over high horsepower any day. Now if it had both that would really be great!!!!!!!!!

Its still something that WILL have to be maintained and adjusted and 1 more thing to break down, past RX1 & APEX set up were bullet proof...as you said "time will tell"
The other big factors you have to take in consideration, a BIKE runs in above ZERO, DRY enviroment and on nice SMOOTH roads, sleds are constantly getting bounce around runing in all kinds of temperatures from near "O" to extreme cold with snow flying around in tunnel with exhaust creating mass amounts of WATER & ICE...we have a hard time keeping our damn shock cable/wire in running condition, I don't want to be negative on this 1...but I wouldn't want to be the cowboy on the 1st edition!
My .02
But don't you think that Yamaha has taken these conditions into consideration.. But time will tell....

Yamaha did not take the conditions into consideration with the Mono RA dial. I finally took all of mine out and blocked the tunnel.

yep my cable broke the first season.....you can simply take cable out but leave plate and Remote dial all in place so it looks nice,no need for plate.
good idea but hard to do with the icy environment it lives in......some of yammies ideas dont pan out.

I wanted it completely out, so there is nothing for ice to build up on. And it still looks good.
