First:
My friend own a 2005 RX1-ER lost a wheel and a 'chunk' of the rail last weekend. The other side is crack. I also own a 2005 RX1-ER; one side is ok but the other one is starting to crack.
Second:
He also have some blister inside of the track were these wheel run
What would be the source of these two problems?
This is the machine of my friend: RX1-ER 2005 with 5000 KM, hyfax’s are within spec, he weight 220lbs. And for mine: RX1-ER 2005 with 3500 KM, hyfax’s are also within spec, I weight 180lbs.
Any idea's?

Do you mean the WHEEL is cracked? Or the rail? Please elaborate on this "chunk" of the rail that he lost.

Wheel breaking off is from maybe hitting a rock and the shaft was weak.

Get warranty immediatly. Get rid of the wheels when the warranty expires. Do you guys do jumping on exposed pointy rocks?

impalapower: There is no shaft back there.
LazyBastard: No we don't. We take good care of are sled. At 15 000$ a piece, we have a tendency to be niece to it. One sled every 5 year at that price is enough, so I make sure that it will last(that also goes for my friend).

You must have hit something. Could have been a stump or something that was exposed as a result of the really bad snow conditions that we had earlier on.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas and what Lazy offered was what I was thinking as well.

Mabe, I don't remember hiting anything that would cause it to crack(by the way it crack on during are last ride, before that is was fine, the trail had 3" of fresh snow).
What about the blister in the track?

Unless a damaged wheel caused the problem to the track, the track was defective to start with.

Check all the wheels that run in that slot to make sure that there aren't any sharp edges or chunks missing from any of them. Also check the driver on that side in case it maybe has a molding defect that causes it to cut into the track.

[All the wheels are fine and we also check mine and the track is ok. Most likely these two problem will be covered under the warranty and will same way as "Why there was no grease on the bushings in the skid". No real reason.

I read in a previous posting that others had simular problems due to poor design...in my opinion this design is great but needs reinforcing...the rear idlers with no cross shaft will never survive the punishment or abuse...the torsional strenth gets to high when hyfax get worn down the idlers have to carry way to much weight...in 4900 kms I replaced idlers 4 times because of failed bearings...this indecates to me that their working overtime!!!

Another issue I have...I don't know if I got a lemon,my steering is getting very stiff and squeaqe, again no !@#$% zerts to grease,Yamaha must be allergic to them...my reverse buzzer died on me...all of my bushings went on my suspension at 2400kms...at this point we pulled out the skid and zerted all stress locations and replaced bushings w/updated ones,7 zerts in all, hopefully this will cure the bushing issue...now this rail problem shows up...did I buy a LEMON??? anybody else have this problem on RX1-ER 2005...hopefully YAMAHA will come good...even my track is shot.
