1977 John Deer Cyclone. My brother and I put 12K miles on this thing and other than the normal repair items it ran like a top when we sold it.

1. 1972 Brut LC44-1st liquid cooled production sled with a sweet 3 cylinder 440. That motor ran, but had the longevity of a retarded mayfly.
2. 1974 Aloutte Twin Track Sno Pro- Villeneuve brothers best sled. Didn't win a lot of races, but it showed what IFS and the first twin tracks could do in racing. Made the big boys raise a few eye brows.
3. 1974 SRX 440 Sno Pro- 1st Yamaha with liquid cooling. Actually had to add weight to meet minimum weight specifications, unlike today's chubby's. Lot's of magnesium, titanium, and unobtanium. Lean and mean to the max. Raced in one Sno Pro class out of three, and still finished 5th is season points.
4. 1975 Ski Doo FA 245- Black and orange bomber. Sexy, low and wide racer raised the bar in stock class racing. 1st version of a Ski Doo platform that ruled the 'wee stock class ovals and later transformed into a formidable cross-country sled with Gerald Karpik and crew in later versions.
5. 1975 Sno Jet Thunder Jet- That wedge shaped blue/black hood with the gold tunnel still gets everyone's oohs and ahhs at the vintage shows. Yamaha motors made this racer a tough one to beat on the ovals back in the day.
6. 1976 Mercury Sno-Twister- I wish when I die I can go out with as big of a bang as Mercury did in it's last year in the sled business. Total domination on the race track. Still commands huge coin if you can find one for sale.
7. 1977 Polaris RXL Sno-Pro- 1st year of the Polaris IFS racers. Midnight Blue Express showed their muscle by winning all of the big races. Farrah Facett unveiled her famous poster the same year. Coincidence?
8. 1983 Yamaha V-Max 540- Yamaha shows the world what their motor and styling departments can deliver. Darth Vader meets Don Garlits. Chuck Yeager approves of the TSS. Can't be all bad when Mr. Sled builds a project sled based on this one.
9. 1995 V-Max 4 800- Not the first of the big quads, but the first of the 800's. Big, black, bulkly, and beautiful. A 2-stroke 4 cylinder sled in 1992? WTF. Last year set the all time horsepower Dyno-Tech dynomometer record. What other 18 year old sled has it's own web site? What other sled caused the racing associations to write rules to ban it from competition due to its total dominance?
10. 2000 Yamaha SRX- All cool blue SRX epitomizes Yamaha's best 2-stroke sled to ice the competition. Still a force on the frozen lakes and speed runs. Hoping that Yamaha will give us another new SRX version in the future to resurrect the famous name and performance image.

Lots of 2000 SRX lovers. I should have NEVER sold mine and kick myself in the arse just thinking about it. God that was/is a cool sled. That motor was just freaking AWESOME! As far as handeling, it was like riding a go-cart. Effortless, perfect corner to corner performance. A sled overlooked which was the template for the SRX was the 1997 SX. Red, sleek and sexy. And one hell of a trail sled. Its really amazing to think about what Yamaha has done in the industry, and for how long they have been doing it. Yamaha has NEVER done ANYTHING half assed. They have always given the consumer high quality, leading edge engineering, and downright GREAT sleds. There hasnt been 1 Yamaha I have owned that I thought wasnt the best built brand, and that included 4 wheelers and all the watercraft I have owned. Anyone ever take a rip on a FX Cruiser SHO? 1800cc with a supercharger on it. Whats not to love. This watercraft is just plain amazing. Hope on any other brands flagship model and you will know instanly which machine is superior! Off soapbox....lol

2007 Apex RTX: 13,000 Miles, My favorite sled to date by far.
1999 Polaris XC 600 SP: 10,000 miles when I sold it. Sled handled on rails and could take a pounding.
1997 Polaris XCF 440. 10,000 miles when I sold it. This sled was tough.
2002 Yamaha Viper. Fun sled, great trail manner. Could not take a beating like my polaris sleds through.
2005 RS Vector. Never liked this sled, it handled like crap and couldn't take a lickin. Great fuel economy.
Other notables: I loved to ride my Dad's 2000 SRX. That sled was a rocket. My friend had a 2002 ZR 800 CCE that was a blast to ride as well.
