I'm looking to install a super-q slip on onto my 2011 xtx; I already have a MBRP header on the sled...do I have to install a programmer if I have both components on?

What are the signs that I need a programmer?

I think it depends on how well it runs without the programmer. I recently installed an Ultra-Q slip on with no other modifications. The instructions said a programer/fuel management device wasnt required but I ended up with a small flat spot between 5500 and 6000 rpms just when I crack the throttle. Other symptoms would be backfiring on decelaration. Usually when you open up the exhaust you get a richened fuel issue.

A slightly richer fuel condition can be confirmed if any apparent issues are reduced when the temps drop.

I did a little bit of looking and Dyno Jet now makes a gizmo a little cheaper than a full blown power commander.

I explained my problem to the vendor and the reply was that this would fix it.

This issue is consistent with other vehicles I have slapped slip ons to (motorcycles).

Some run just fine and some dont. My R-1 had no noticible issue but my ZRX 1100, HD-Vrod and Street glide had various issues. I dont believe running it that way is going to hurt anything but you are clearly leaving HP on the table. It might be a little and it might be significant. Throttle response would surely be improved provided you got the right map.
