Hey All,
In the process of changing out a snapped drive shaft, bearings and seal at 9k miles. Like many, I hate breaking down in the middle of the season, so, I was wondering when these chaincase silent chains like to fail. Just wondering If I should change it while im at it. I wouldnt ask if the part wasnt another $100+.
Thanks in advance.

Another $100 now, or....
You're there now, put a new one on & done. What if it breaks & takes out the case too.

The problem is that the rule of thumb is if you change the chain you best change the gears as well because they all wear together....then, while you are in there you might as well change the chaincase & jackshaft bearings, lol!!! It's funny how things snow ball!!
Not sure how long the chains last but hopefully someone can help you out.

2000 miles and broke a chain. Then again 350 HP might have caused that chain to break.
I replace my chain every other year. I lucked out when the chain broke. It somehow piled up in the chaincase and didn't wreck anything else.

Ordered a new driveshaft today with new bearings and bearings for jackshaft also.Checked chain and it's real stiff with no more flex so new one on order. After 15,000 miles and piece of mind all new is the way to go I believe.

I would assume the whole question is subjective based on how people ride their sleds and what gear oil they use and if they change it annually or not?
Personally if I was the OP, and being since I was already in there, I would also change it as well as the gears like Ranger 1 mentioned.
