I am going into my 5th season with my Apex RTX and I still have the original battery. It has never showed signs of failing but don't want to be stuck looking for a jump start. It has 5k+ miles. What are the lifespan of the factory batteries?

Just sold my 2006 Apex which I ran 7 seasons 13000 KM. Battery still working well.Trickle charged through the summers.

Batteries have an expected life of ~4-6 years. It matters not how many miles are put on during that time. Battery tenders during the off season will help extend the life span to the fullest but there will come an end.

Knowing this, and without a hint of trouble to come, I chose to replace the batteries in both of my 07 Yamaha's last fall before issues arose. Thats just me, and you might have the rare exception battery that works for 7+ years... however there is no way to know for sure.

Roll the dice?

I moved my post about upgraded batteries to a new subject in this forum.

I had the original battery on my 07 attak. I just got a new one for this season. Last year on a cold day it sounded like it was cranking slower than normal. I just wanted to be safe. I never used a battery tender or took it out of the sled during the off season. Sled always started at the beginning of every season without charging.

I just replaced the original on a 06 apext gt, purchased thru kevin @port yamaha with the discount last weekend at the milwaukee show

Did you buy an exact replacement? What did you pay?

It sounds like a 50/50 on when to replace a battery. I think I will replace it just to be safe....nothing worse than getting a jump start from a Doo.....lol

Thank you for all the replies....

3-4 years life expectancy from what ive seen, OEM battery is IMO the best

I am going to let my Optimate 6 tell me when it is failing. I have an 06 and it scares me to think that battery is 6-7 years old. YET the lights on the optimate keep coming up GREEN. So I keep the jumpers with me, never used, and will keep her going. (All my other sleds have the ability to jump me.......so really not risking much)
