I hate to start new threads someplace it does not belong.
I have some questions about my clutching. Supposedly the previous owner did some clutch work. I took my sled out on a lake and did a WOT and RPM's jumped to about 9500 RPM's and was creeping up very slowly after 9500. After the WOT would not allow me to add any throttle. Had to go to idle speed before that would happen (now I think from reading that this could be one of my carb boots not seated correctly?). I have not even really looked at my clutch (I'm not much of a wrench) but shouldn't it go to 10,200 or so even stock? When you guys get to 10,200-10,400 or so, does it jump to that RPM or does it take a LONG time to get to that RPM?

Clutching
I kinda did the same test yesterday right after we passed a groomer and it was like glass. I ran it up and it held at 9800. Couldn't get any more out of it. It was at about 6500' or so elevation. Just ordered a new custom clutch kit from Hartman Inc. Hopefully it will pull harder all the way through and get my rpm's up alittle.

It should bang to 10200 or so and creep to 10300-10400. Your sled may run good 0-80 but you will be way short on top end speed.

ok is that a problem with my stock clutch? or woudl you need aftermarket to get it to 10,200? Actually honestly I am not sure if it is a stock clutch.... I don't even know how to check that.
Sorry just an incredible noob...

Remove the Rivits on the tips of the weights and you should be right on!

xprtrpr,
Why don't you tell use what color springs you have in the primary and secondary. Also pull secondary and see what twist you have it at. Also un-screw one of the bolt and nut in Primary holding weight and tell us what markings are on it and any weights if installed. If they are Yamaha weights, they will have a color to them as well.
How old is the belt?
Defiantly check to make sure air box boots are installed correctly.
Need more info to help.

Next time I have it off the trailer I will check the colors of the springs and weights.
As for belt I don't know how old it is, but about a month ago I smelled the belt burning up a little (someone used my sled and it got stuck and person kept gunning engine and digging a bigger hole), someone said to just keep riding with it. Could that possibly be my problem?
I will definatley be checking the airbox boots when i take it off trailer again also....

With the stock clutch doesn't it jump to 9000 or so then pull up to 10,200 slowly. I thought that it says that in the owners manual? Am I wrong?

powerband
I was told the powerband is between 10,200-10,400 on an Rx-1. I'm currently having the same problem with mine. I got a kit from the speedshop. It jumps up around 9600 or so out of the hole and then creeps close to right at 10,000. I currently have a backfiring problem on decel, though. Once I get that resolved then hopefully it will tach right. Otherwise the rpm will be my next hurdle.
