Just thinking out loud I hate having to lift the rear of the sled with a 20lb boat anchor of a muffler back there. I would love to get rid of it and use a turbo header and run the exhaust either out the side or over the engine in front, etc.
Any creative guys out there come up with a way to run the exhaust out of the way and save a ton of weight and hassles (donuts, studs tearing up pipes, etc)? Being Sc it NEEDS a muffler or it would be WAY to f'n loud for a trail db station. I dont really want it in front of me as I bet that woudl be loud even on the stock muffler.
Just brainstorming before I re-do my complete exhaust!

The boondocker system/header runs it out the oil tank side. Might want to look into that. At least it gets you pointed in that direction

That is what I was thinking, relocate the oil tank or build a new one to fit under the IC, however then I have a hot exhaust going right past all the SC belts on that side. Maybe not a big deal?

Just thinking out loud
and it will be LOUD!! I had a straight thru style exhaust on mine.......for about 15 minutes. It was so loud it made my head hurt. Traditional rear exit crotch rocket muffler, looked cool as hell, I took it off after one pass around the lake.
Unlike the turbo sleds (the turbo itself does a pretty good job of keeping it quiet) the supercharged sleds have wide open exhaust & forced induction = LOUD......if you've ever been to a drag strip with turbo cars and S/C cars running open exhaust - same deal
You're gonna need a big (effective) muffler, don't really see were one would fit up front anywhere.
Good Luck

Yeah I know that is my fear you never see a tunnel dump or a glass pack on a SC sled. I dont wany any more volume either just hate all the crap in the tunnel making the azz end so heavy to haul around.
All the ski doo guys come grab the bumper and then their back and give me a hard time about the weight, be cool if it was nice and light back there next year. I just wont let them grab the front bumper LOL

hey buddy! You trail ride that baby at all in NY or you still head west only to ride? Curious how the under tunnel sounds on a hardpack trail.

Yep. I have 600 miles on it this year in NY. I went to wyoming last year and the power was nice but my clutching sucked. Just decided to head back out there in 2 weeks and now I hope my clutching is dead on. The snow is pretty deep in the mountains so it will be a good year. The under the tunnel sounds good. It does not bother me but my friends behind me say it's kinda loud.

I have glasspack under tunnel exhaust. Cheap Walker 2"inlet 2"outlet, bought at auto parts store for $25. Got rid of 28lbs of junk from rear. Room for molded skidoo gas can & straps. Gas can fit nice under boss seat made for yamaha muffler. Not much louder than stock.

I think that the apex has a titanium header already and is developed to flow pretty well. You should be able to pick up a Carbon fiber Slipon for a r1 bike and modify the exhaust to remove the heavy muff and the muffler(cAst) box. Have the exhaust come out the back still and probally cut 10-15lbs. I know I would not want to use my turbo header as a N/a header as it is setup to flow into such a small opening. Definately the BD header because it is a log style header and they don't flow like a tuned length header that the apex already has.
couple ideas.

I have a tunnel dump on mine that was made by Lincoln County Customs (LCC) in Alpine, Wyoming. It works great and sounds pretty mean without being too loud. You might call MPI and see if they have one yet. When I last spoke to them they had talked about possibly offering one. Good luck!

Talked with Matt at MPI and he said no, doesn't work well in deep powder. Looks like I'll make one.
