Where to stay next week in Escanaba? Marquette?

The boys and I are planning a trip to the U.P. and I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations of where to stay in Escanaba or Marquette. We are looking for a place on (or very near) the trail and a hot tub would be nice too. Also, wondering your thoughts on the snow conditions in and around Escanaba. I hear they don't see much snow in those parts.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks BS29, That is really good to know. We are leaving from Conover WI so I hope we get some snow soon. Munising was going to be one of the stops but maybe we'll shoot there first. Thanks. BTW, nice pic from KI. Can anybody get ther picute taken with an F16?

Stay in Ishpeming in the country village. There is a groomed trail spur from trail #8 that takes you right into the village. It is called a village but it is really a collection of shops, lodging, restaurants, and petrol stations.

The Best Western there has a pool and hot tub. You are a couple of blocks from the Jasper Ridge Brew Pub (good place).

Marquette

Rode from St Ignace to Marquette 2 days ago and then from Marquette to Houghton yesterday. Marquette trails were in very good condition and great from Marquette to Big Bay. Very bumpy from Marquette to Munising with snow over ice, very nice after the groomer but fair amount of traffic. Worst conditions were going through Baraga and L'Anse. Riding from Houghton to Copper today and then down the west side of Keewanaw, back to Houghton.

Lots of fresh snow here in Marquette overnight...we got a very solid 6-8" of good quality snow, and its still coming down. Should really help the trails.

I would take the ealier advice and stay over in Ishpeming, or down in Gwinn.

It can be a bit of a bear getting in/out of Marquette...even though some of the hotels are "on the trail", its really a spur that runs into town. You end up riding the same stretch over and over again trying to get to the main trails in order to get anywhere.
