Do I need to go to a Yamaha dealer for a specific grease or...is there a suitable substitute.
Also how do you get the primary center bolt outg...without buying the specialty tool from yamaha. Has anyone come up with an easier way.
I assume it is a right hand thread.
I tried a strap wrench but mine is only a 6" wrench
I took off the sheave cover since I could not get the bolt out...just wanted to see how bad the grease was. They way over greased it and the grease is all dry and thick..and I would say way way too much.
If someone has a way to loosen the primary centyer bolt....or basically hold the primary sheave from turing while wrenching the bolt..man let me know

Well forget the bolt...I built my own strap wrench....now I can strap wrench anything .....I have 6 feet of strap.
That was alot tighter than i expected....I had to put a 2 foot extension on my breaker bar to pop the nut free.
Now if anyone has an alternative to "grizzly grease" let me know...if not I have to go across town to a dealer.
Also the weights and the seats where they roll/slide on the primary sheave are severely scored/grooved.
The grease was dry and full of mud.....no wonder it never shifted to Hi.
Look at the pics...think I should replace the sliding sheave :)
Well I need atleast all the weights and the primary outer sheave.

Hmm 44 views and no response......bummer.
Well I talked to a different local dealer today ( other than the first one who only said use Yamalube)...and this dealer ( service guy)gave me good recomendations that they use instead of the yamalube.

When you buy the Yamaha grease you are supposed to use the whole package. Supposedly there is just enough to do the job.

azscott .. I assume by now you have your clutch all back together.

As far as grease goes, I've used Yamalube, Mobile 1, & Amsoil grease. All with good luck.

Before I say anything about the sheave, did you get a new one or did you just clean your stock one up ??

Either way, Hope the Grizz is back together & runn'in smooth !! ;)!

Later ...
