I'm looking at either an ECP filter kit, or a ripsaw, to put on an 03 RX-1. Engine is all stock except for the HBRP exhaust system. Which one will offer the better performance gain? I'm thinking the track, as what good will the filter kit do, if the track can't hook up. Just wondering what you guys think/know. Unfortunately, can't afford to do both.

Thanks!

Do the track for sure. There is no point in adding power if you can't get it to the ground. ;)!

1) Track (I'd think hard about a 136" seeing that you will be buying a track anyways)
2) Front suspension springs & swaybar
3) Make sure you're jetted correctly for the aftermarket pipe.
4) Make sure your clutched right
......then drive it for a while before doing anything else to see if you like it.

I have a 03 and ran the filters with the stock track for a year. The track is good for trail riding and high speed lake riding if it is properly studded. For the price of a new track you could probably stud the old track and get the filter kit. Then next years budget could alow for a new track. I found that the old track really only suffered in the loose snow or powder riding. Not to say that a ripsaw is not the way to go, it definetly will benifit. Unfortunatly for me more power always seems to affect my rational decision making process!

I studded from the get-go. Definitely leaning towards the track. Thanks for the input guys!

DO THE FILTERS!

Why would you want to put that slow track on your sled?

I don't know what the conditions are like where you ride....but any track will spin in deep snow. On hard pack, the studs do all of the work!

Slow track, ??? The ripsaw is designed for traction without affecting speed compared to similar large luged tracks which do rob top end. They accomplished this by the design of the paddles with those teeth like slits. A regular deep lug track will cause create aerodynamic drag at higher speeds because of the high paddles where the teeth on the ripsaw cut thru the wind. Stick your hand out the window as your driving and hold your fingers together and feel the resistance then open up your fingers.
I have had both tracks and there is no comparison, get the ripsaw :ORC

Ripsaw track will be about 2 mph (avg) slower on top speed, and gain couple sled lengths in short distance acceleration (comparing two stock machines)

I knew you guys wouldn't let me down. It's just always nice to hear from people who know their $%&!. Will be contacting Matt real soon about a track. Could possible go the 136 route, just depends on the difference in $$.

Thanks again!
