Which offers a better performance gain?

how many of you guys have roadraced (motorcycles)? Have you EVER heard of putting an exhaust system on a bike and doing nothing with the intake? NO... The engine is breathing out of the exhaust, but it's having a harder time inhaling because there's nothing that's been done with the airbox. If you balance everything out, and re-jet... you're going to make more power. Also, you may even get better mileage (i don't know if this is of any concern to you). Where are you anyways? I don't know about all this drag-racing-stuff... but overall... in order to get more power out of your engine, you need to make it flow more air. Engines are essentially "air pumps"... and the more air you can move thru them, the more power you can get them to generate.
I say go for the filters... you're gonna spin your track anyway you look at it for the most part...

Just to give you an idea of the difference a track can make i will tell you this.. ......

Two years ago i had a stock viper with 144 studs.. and my buddy had a zr800 with 144 studs and a 1 1/4 track... HE WOULD KILL ME OUTA THE HOLE AND STAY A GOOD 5 SLEDS IN FRONT OF ME.Untill 100mph when he toped out and i starte to catch him fast., eventually passing him (119 on the dreammeter).. Later on in the year he swithced to a 1inch track and we were dead even off of the line(due to his spinning) and stayed right there side by side until 100mph when he pulled away and his speedo said 120+mph..

tracks make a big difference!! GET THE TRACK!!! HOW OFTEN DO YOU RUN ALL OUT ON A SHEET OF ICE??

No disrespect, tracks do make a difference, but if your Viper was getting by a ZR800, there was something wrong with the ZR800. I had one, with the 1 inch nipple track, and my brother had a Viper. They weren't even close, from bottom to top. With a 1.25, he should have left you at the line and not looked back. Unless your Viper was piped, the ZR has at least 20 hp on the Viper.

The first year i had my viper it ran like a rapped ape.. The second year i think it was overreving and didnt run near as fast!!

The first year i got 119mph (dreammeter)on a down hill road on it.. Smoked everyone in our group!

The second year i was luck to hit 110 ever!!

His sled had alot more miles on it then mine... the second year... But both Brand new out of the box he never got more than 6 sled lengths on me untill 100!

MAYBEE I HAD ONE OF THE STRONG VIPERS??

MAYBEE IT WAS YOUR BROTHERS SLED THAT HAD SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT! MAYBEE YOUR BROTHERS SLED WAS OVERREVING.(I HEAR IT WAS A BIG PROBLEM FROM THE FACTORY)

Let it snow

Dude. I don't want to rock your world, but all things being equal, the Viper is no match for a ZR800. I've spent enough time on both sleds to know that as a fact. :ORC
