i'm thinking,we all praise yamaha for there kick #*$&@ engines but those same engine designers who also make the filters must know what they are doing and be ahead of the aftermarket companies,i know they are more money but its peace of mine for me,on my phazer,i changed the oil filter twice in 21000 km,that's 2 filters in 5 seasons,i think i can afford the yammi filter

Run what gives you peace of mind but personally I would never run a filter to 20,000km's no matter who made it.

My gut tells me, if your leaving your filter on for that long or even half that long then it is more than likely spent and your oil is being by-passed and not being filtered at all?

I always have and always will change my filter when I change my oil, imo it is a no brainer. Why go to all the trouble of adding new oil only to continue to use a used filter, which is more than likely filled with crud/dirt plus the filter is still filled with dirty oil which is going to get recirculated through your clean oil and engine again???

x2

because the masterminds at yamaha say its ok,plus, changing the oil filter on the phazer is not a half hour job,i'm a ,by the book guy,i've always been like that with good luck

You ride and stop at a bar and piss more money away than what an oil filter costs from a dealer

I change my filter every other year. its a beast to do. the filter is never heavy like my bike one is you don't get dirt in the air when snow is on the ground. Yamaha says I could go longer but with the super charger on her I don't let it go as long as they say it can. its not at all about the money it was a big enough job before the super charger install now it is even worse.
