I am getting ready to upgrade the skis on my wife's '07 Phazer Mountain and trying to find somebody who has compared the Slydog Powder Hounds to the Gen I and Gen II Simmons. I have a set of Gen I Simmons on my RX-1 and that made night and day difference on that machine but I would like to know which is better for the Phazer. Thanks

White USI Tripple Threats. O.K. they don't have to be white, but they would look pretty good on this sled. Honestly, I think they are a good match for this sled.

I would not bother with the powder pros--- the Yamaha ski is a saddle less copy of them. I did not find much difference between the 2 , the Yamaha is a bit more Aggressive that's about it

What I notice about the Yamaha ski is that because of the raised sides you lose a lot of the float potential. With the USI's my Apex's front end actually floats in the POW. Never thought that would be possible. When ditch ridding a few weeks ago I noticed that the Phazer (Yam) skis just wanted to sink, unless I really leaned back I couldn't float the front end. Not saying that the Slydogs would float but I like the mounting system and adjustability the USI's provide. Everyone seems to be affraid of them on here as they think that they are too aggressive, and while for my Apex some may not like the added steering effort but I can adjust that out. As for the Phaze, personally I think it could use more bite in the corners.

I have a set of the slydog powder hounds on my attak and love them.... cant respond to the other skis, but with the hounds, the front end floats good when off trail and on trail handling is great as well.

not to mention the cool color combos available, the white grey black camo pattern would look hot on a mountain phazer

Phazer for sale!

Well it looks like the Phazer is going down the road. Had my wife out this weekend and she said either it goes or she is done riding. I don't blame her, I thought that this would be a good sled but it sure not a deep powder boon docker. I am hoping that Yamaha will see the light and come out with something in the 105-125 horse class that is an actual Mountain sled, not a trail sled with a longer track, which is what the Phazer is IMO. She rode a Nytro and thought that it was too much for her, so it looks like an RMK 600 is on the way. :o| :o| :o|

I,m not sure what your wifes been riding before but the mnt lite is one of the easiest sleds i have ever ridden. I ride in 2ft of powder all the time and it handles it just fine. Granted you don't want to be idling around but what sled does besides a widetrack? I would put the gen 2 skis on there and will probly help with being less agressive or not on step. you think it and this sled does it.
