Well I have been looking at the 2015 vipers, not a 100% sure if I want to buy one after reading about all the problems people had last year. I was just wondering from people that has ridden these things what you would recommend, I have been looking at the ltx se with 1.25" lug track and the xtx se with 1.6" lug track. I just don't know which would best suite me since I haven't rode one. I ride a lot of trails, they can get super rough at times, but I like to get off trail at times when the snows deep to play around. What would you guys recommend I look at? Right now I have a 09 nytro xtx with 136" 1.25" lug track, I have the hurricane performance pack and split rails and shocks all revalved so it rides pretty decent but still feels really heavy I hope the viper won't disappoint!!
Thanks

We bought a 2014 Viper XTX for the girlfriend last year. I converted it to an MTX, and I liked it so much I took a beating selling my 2014 Arctic Cat M8 and bought another Viper to convert. Now we just ride the mountains so I would probably be the wrong guy to suggest which model, but I certainly would not let worries about reliability stop me. We did not have problems with our Viper

There were very very few viper issues. You will be very safe owning a 2015 viper. I love my ltx se, but I strictly trail ride with a fair amount of racing against my buddies, never drove an xtx, all I can say is if you want a sled that you can really pull the front end up and loft the skis, the ltx isn't the sled you want. It is very planted which makes it amazing to ride on trails. The xtx can be a wheelie machine if you want it to be but isn't going to be as good of a trail sled, honestly I think you'd enjoy and rtx with a deeper lug track. The rtx is only 4 inches less track on the ground than the ltx but from what I've heard they can be setup to have awesome weight transfer for playing around both on and off trail but still be a very planted trail sled. The ltx goes great in deep snow but isn't setup to really carve hard and transfer weight to get the skis high in the air
My 129 did very well off trail and is awesome in rough trail. If I go off trail it's only once or twice a year. If I did it more I would go XTX since nothing compares to more track in the deep. I rode a couple last year and honestly was very surprised how well they handled on trail. Very plush ride also. I never got to ride one on a hardback trail though.

Not trying to talk any trail riders in to the XTX, but I have to say I was stunned at how well the XTX handled the trails and roads. Obviously the other models do it better but I have to say I was pleased. Even after putting the 38 inch front and the long track the XTX handled the roads as well as my old RX1....in my opinion anyways, but bear in mind we travel high mountain roads to get to the powder and don't usually go over 70 to 80mph

i have ridden all three rtx, ltx, and the xtx. all of them where 14s though. the rtx was brand new and probably not set up perfectly and i thought it was too loose in the rear. always spinning the track and seemed squarely. i own a ltx and on trail i feel it is the best out there, when it spins it feels straight and no side to side looseness like i felt on the rtx. i have rode off trail some and have had no trouble with it in the deeper snow. my only wish is it had a 1.6 track or larger. the xtx, like all have said feels lighter in the front when you crack the throttle and would be better if all i rode was pow. from what you have said about your riding i would recommend the ltx le which has a coupled skid and a 1.75 inch track.

Ya I figured the rtx might not h00k up the greatest, I would also like to look into the hurricane turbo once the warranty is up so I think the ltx or xtx would be the best option. Does the ltx handle the rough stuff pretty good? I would like to get the ltx le but I am pretty sure that was only a spring surge buy, now all I can seem to get are the SE models and the ltx se only comes with the 1.25" track.

The rtx can be setup to really hook up! The ltx hooks up great but u don't get the front end lift, which in my opinion is it's best characteristic, it just locks in and goes. I could ride any 3 of the model vipers and like them equally, there really is no bad model when it comes to the viper! It makes sense the ltx is the all around package, but in reality I feel 100% that the rtx, ltx, and xtx are all the all around package

hurricane turbo makes it a whole new machine!
You need to decide which is more important to you. Trails , corners and bumps, or off trail? Which do you really do most and which traits would you rather compromise on? I have an uncoupled 141 in this chassis and also the coupled 137. Like mentioned above, the 137 is without a doubt superior on the trails but does not transfer nearly as well for off trail, and unless you get one with more than a 1.25 track, that will also limit any fun off the trail. The 141 is definitely ok on the trail when setup for it, but not nearly as good as the 137, but a whole lot better off trail. It's takes a lot of body movement to ride the 141 aggressively through the corners. I wouldn't even consider the shorty RTX for what you said you are looking for unless you really dont care about off trail performance compared to the ltx and xtx. It would be at the bottom of the list for that but at the top of the list for trail corner burning and bumps.

Well I would say 85% of my riding is just trail riding and if I am lucky enough to find some nice deep untouched powder I like to go play. The trails I usually ride can range from very smooth to rough depending on the amount of traffic, and a bit of tight bush trails. The nytro with the 137" track was not bad in the deep stuff but I would still get stuck quite often, I was able to get it set up fairly good for the rough trails but it still wasn't as good as I was hoping. I ride with a few new ski-doo's and a couple polaris rush and assaults. They can all handle to trails pretty good it seems like. I also ride some icy trails so it would be cool to maybe see if I can get an upgrade on the track to the 1.6" ice ripper or something.

I typically ride the same type of trails as you, and I went with a LTX-DX. I'm coming from an 11 Apex XTX, and after lengthy discussion with my dealer, the LTX-DX is the one for me.
I'll also be putting 144 studs up the center to help with those icy corners.

Were probably riding the same trails
I am leaning more toward the LTX line up. I am just worried about it not having the power the nytro did. But hopefully it handles way better!!

Even if it lacks a bit of power compared to a nytro, the procross chassis is so much more of a performance based chassis that the viper will outperform a nytro in EVERY area of riding. To be completely honest, I weigh 240 and have the same riding style as you, if yamaha offered a viper with coil over front shocks and a softer rear suspension setup and it was in a color scheme I like that would be the perfect sled for me. The se models come setup so stiff! Nothing that shock revalving can't take care of but I didn't have good luck with my floats so they're off and I got a set of coil overs on
