Hey guys,
I'm new to this site and the 4 stroke world. I'm looking at a 03 RX1 with a turbo on it. My buddy just took this sled on trade for his boat and I'm interested in buying it. The previous owner couldn't elaborate much on what turbo it was and really anything about it. He bought the sled with it already installed and never changed anything and was told to run 91 in it all the time. So at this point that's all we know about it.
From my research it looks like it's a rear mount turbo and I'm assuming it's a stage 1. The sled has 6500 miles on it, 2 fuel pumps, boost, water and air/fuel gauge and a switch to turn on the second fuel pump. I've followed the intake piping and it runs from the custom box upfront to the rear of the sled. Under the tunnel it looks like the pipe turned into a heat exchager or innercooler then turnes back into pipe and looks like it goes up to a turbo behind the seat. The exhast has been cut and made into a single pipe so no more duels The exhaust that's been bypassed looks like it's had barley any run time so I'm guessing the turbo was installed once the sled was broke in. I've added some pics to help with what I'm describing.
Thanks in advance!

I was thinking the same thing it being a bender stage 1 its the closest I could find to matching.
As for the 2 fuel pumps, are they mounted on top of each other like that stock?
If they have 2 pump stock then any idea what the switch is for on the dash? The guy said it was for a second pump. He said if it was left on when you shut the sled off the sled floods and it's really hard to start. He also said that when starting to leave that switch off till you take off and let the sled idle for a little bit before turning the switch off when your shutting the sled off.

Not sure what make it is, but your exhaust has to go into one pipe from your header to the turbo, through the turbine and then out, the other square/rectangular tube feeds the pressure/boost back to your intercooler. You don't want any leaks on any of these, exhaust or intake, because you will make less boost, therefore less power. Hard to say if the carbs have billet T's, and billet caps installed without seeing pictures. You didn't take picutures of the turbo itself, that may reveal who's kit it is, then it may not if the owner had someone make up their own. I think there were a couple different rear mount kits.

Bender Stage 1 unit.

Look in some ways similar to my Bender stage 2 kit. If the stock pumps have shut offs on the stock stacked pumps like your picture shows there will be a second elec. fuel pump. On my kit the dash toggle switch will change boost settings fromm 5lbs boost to 10lbs. There is a pitot jet change required when the switch is flipped.
Here are some pictures of a Bender Stage 2 kit on an RX1 (not mine)

Yamadog, yours is a stage 2 intercooler. The Bender stage 1 was just an oversized airbox like the op has pics of.

Stage I Stage II it was a piece of crap I tell ya! I spent 2 yrs trying to get consistent boost in all that time I had 1- 30 min ride that the jetting, octane, altitude and temp were just right and it actually ran like it was on fire! then it blew the intercooler off the carb rack and I limped it back to the trailer. It was way cool when it ran both in the deep stuff and water skipping it was a blast. The turbos of today on FI sleds is soooo much nicer. I miss the old dog though.
