why ulmer racing

He does some serious testing on his kits before he sells them. Will give u all the info on set up. Very helpful after the sale. I already have mine and it looks great. Cant wait to run them side by side and see what the improvements are before I put one on both sleds. Am looking forward to trying one of his SCs after he gets some snow.

How does he test them on snow? Isn't there a huge difference in setup between grass and snow?
Yes, but getting more HP to the track is getting more HP to the track. I have heard numbers as high as 10 more from Allen's setup

After 5 years of using the track dyno for snow clutch setups we can come straight off the dyno and be within 100 or 200 rpm on the snow. Experience has taught us what little adjustments will need to be made. With the wide power band of the Apex it's a snap to clutch with some nice gains to be made.

Allen, thanks for the info. I have always wondered that. So your saying that you test on the grass, and then compare numbers on the dyno also and make adjustments accordingly for the snow set-ups? Is this the way everyone does it that has the kits out now? Thanks again for the info.

Batmobile,

Didn't mean to hi-jack your post. My vote for best clutch set-up would be from Fixx Powersports in MN. I have had his set-ups before and they are great. You just have to wait until he gets his testing done, but I am positive that you will not be disappointed for waiting. He is on the cool links page I believe.

Why do anything to it?

If i wanted to desecrate my sled i would ride a cat.

Who wants to be hoods up trailside during primetime, trying to dial it in (or hooked to a tow rope) when ya should be ridin.

Buyin all that *&@# is a waste of money.

Voids yer warranty.

I think Yamaha did there homework here, why tamper with there good judgement,do you think some cat working out of a pole barn could do it better?

My 2 cents.

What part of a clutch kit voids a warranty? And why would you have to dial it in if it is already suppose to be set up for you?

if you blow up that clutch its yer baby also if it does damage to the engine re Yamaha will not stand behind you. They wont stand behind you on any after market failure.

Different tracks/studs, engine mods and body weight play a roll on clutching characteristics.

As Dano can attest regarding the equipment his company buys from mine, there are always improvements that can be made to suit a particular purpose or need.

My question for this thread is what's the downside of a clutch kit?

You always have to give up something to get something. As a simple example, the hooked brake lever allows an easier reach when your hand is out on the hook but gives up the adjustability of the factory lever.

I never adjusted my factory lever anyway so it was a no-brainer for me.
