Who has tuned sidewinder that rides in ny.

Yes , I rode it shortly last year on a buddy's sled , I was impressed. Comes on strong down low. Call Hurricane for clutching he will give you a good set up.

I dont really care about top end speed how is the td sm max spool 16 is it snappy, what's it like corner to corner
It is snappy and the corner to corner is fast enough to get you in trouble if your not paying attention, you are usually going much faster than you realize. clutching and gearing will be the 2 things that will be the difference in how aggressive you want the throttle response. there is plenty of power on Max16 you can fine tune how you want it delivered.I run stock gearing and may even go to a 22t because i do a few trips to Maine each year and the trails in the County are much faster cruising speeds than in Old Forge NY area. i did ride a sidewinder with 24 50 gearing on Max Spool 16 and power delivery was much more aggressive than mine with stock gearing. still my set up is enough corner to corner to drive over the 850's.

How is traction with these type of tune are you using studs what length etc

Have you tried the 270 sm tune from hurricane would like some feedback on that tune. This would be my main tune for riding probably 192 woody gd for hookup. Just need some help on what people are using for clutching for that snappy feeling and good back shift when in the trail.
270 sm is a riot!! I ran it for half of last season!! I have all the hurricane tunes (sm bundle and PERFORMANCE muffler bundle) and every single tune from 225 to 300 put a huge grin on my face and makes me giggle like a schoolgirl..lol

Which is more aggressive for snap in throttle response for going over knoll and corner to corner sm tune or pm tunes

Definitely the PM tunes spool up faster but the sm tunes are not far behind!! Both sm and pm tune will launch you over a knoll at will with the squeeze of the throttle!!

You want the Quick spool Hurricane 270 tune IMO. Personally I would go with the flasher and tune "bundle" so you have lots of choice, the handlebar button is killer for "knoll" jumping too.

What you need to understand about the nose lifting snap with these sleds and tunes, is that you need to rev the tune higher on top if you want that snap down low when corner to corner hot rodding off knolls.

For me, the bundle works best, in particular 240 and 270 I used constantly. I set them up to rev how I wanted, and also this helped alot for touring using 87 octane....I have posted this many times as I rode my turbo different then most.

With handlebar button you can achieve a killer corner to corner rocket, and also tour on 87 octane on the big high speed trail sections. I would button down to 240 for the big speed stuff, which revs lower and never saw knock lite using 87 for most all speeds. Then when I get to tighter sections and knoll blipping, I would button up to 270, which revs higher(9100 sweet spot-top) so down low corner to corner this sled became a true animal in which the front end would lift off all knolls instantly. Mine was set up with a STOCK MODDED muffler, near stock quiet but better flow, also CAI helps with throttle response for knoll blipping. Must clutch it to rev this way otherwise you will not have that snap down low. Also, my 129" skid had my modded transfer block setup, which was the clincher in making my 129'' winder the most fun sled I've owned.

Stock gearing?
What clutching weights are you using and how many studs do you run with these tunes do you spin alot or does it hookup well with your setup sounds like your setup is what I'm looking for as far as trail riding.

You have a 137 skid tho....so it wont have that ski lifting giggle factor mine did.

I did go back to stock 21/41 gearing and liked it best corner to corner with the 270R tune. I will say the stock Cat my bud has with stock 24/50 gears works really well corner to corner for no tune.

Click my build thread(below) and see details of my entire setup. I ran Dalton DTYA1 (@77.3g) with a Dalton Black/red spring for my primary setup.

Yah it's hard to get ski lift with 137 skid but from what I've read ppl on here say after tune and good hookup the 137 skid will transfer. Dont know know personal experience since my sled not tune yet or studded but I did put on the pilots skis you mentioned in your thread they work well compared to tuners. Hopefully after tune and studding I can get what I am looking for as transfer goes. If recall you used 1.45 woody gd with if so how is the hookup with that length and how many did you use

I ride in NY and last year rode with a 240 hurricane tune and thier trail muffler. Tune worked good, would get an occasional backfire when running wide open then chopping to zero throttle. I liked the sound of the sled with the muffler even though NY state parks did not. Ended up with a ticket. Muffler has been sold and this year I am running stock muffler 240 flash. I went with hurricane over TD as TD seems to be more about top end speed. I would really like to ride a similar precision tune just for a comparison factor. FYI my 137" does not transfer one bit before or after the tune.

Well that sucks about the muffler i was going to go that route but dont need tickets. Are you studded if so how many studs and what length.

Only way I could get better transfer w my 137" was to let limiter straps out to last hole and keep coupling blocks in stock position (side #1). I do have 192 studs so that must help.

What length of studs you running
