Who has tuned sidewinder that rides in ny.

StudBoy Lake Racer w StudBoy Prolite double backers. Lighter than aluminum (I've weighed them both) and they hold up really well but I don't spin track over cement curbs, railroad tracks, or rocks. All last season I lost the tips off about 5-6. Cracked 2-3 backers, must have hit some rocks in trail.
No tunnel protectors. If you run track at tension it should be, IMO you don't need them. If you run track too loose, you'll need them. See the attached video on track tension. 1/2" max. in middle of rail.

I run 144 Woody gold diggers at the recommended length for a q
1.25 track which I believe is 1.325. In the defense of the 137 skid I have not gone out of my way to increase transfer. Only suspension adjustments I have made are for comfort.

1/2-9/16". This is not for everyone but it works for me because I ride in good snow conditions, don't ride on road, don't spin over concrete curbs and rocks. Over last season, I think I replaced about 4-5 studs due to very tip being broken (carbide tip missing). Never have torn one through, and don't bend them either.

Pic showing studding. 1.625" StudBoy Lake Racer mounted w StudBoy ProLite backers. No nuts, no "backer plate." A drop or 2 of a good superglue is what holds stud into backer. They're locked so good often I have to heat the stud to get it out. ProLite backers need to tapped first before screwing stud in. Lightest setup there is. I have weighed both an aluminum setup and this one. This one is 2 lbs lighter! Works good for me.

In good conditions do spin or do you hook up can you explain your setup other than studs and how your sled reacts to your setup

Started w 1.50" studs and went to 1.625" because I wanted more traction and there's plenty of room to clear heat exchangers. I usually race guys on hard-pack/icy hard-pack so longer is better. Backers also act as little paddles. As you probably have read, these 137" skids are not famous for weight transfer so I wanted to do everything I could to promote it. Coupling blocks set on #1, limiter straps as long as they go (w factory holes). You might have seen here on TY some guys have even removed coupling blocks all together and just put some rubber hose on the shaft. Compared to the other sleds I've had, I would rank this setup as pretty good. My engagement is a modest 3,100 on purpose. Spinnin' ain't winning." This sled does come out of hole very well and pulls good. I have tip-bias clutch setup to promote quicker revving.
IDK if that answers your question. It's one of those things that's hard to describe.
