SO.....the debate begins....Yamaha launches a xtx...yawn....with upgraded....yawn....stuff...

I am not impressed at all...if I owned a MTX I would have done most of those mods myself...here is I was thinking about running out to the local yamaha dealership and putting dollars down on the newest hottest sled...yawn...and I get a streched Nytro with a few garage mods....come on guys.....skidoo is kicking our a$$ light weight this, light weight that and all we can come up with is a 144"?
Yamaha has a chance this year to set the bar once again....hope it comes in march or I might switch to the new 4 stroke sled...truly disappointed!!

Bring on the HP and a stock turbo!!! Time to think outside the box....

I think it's a decent model that fits nicely into their entire line up.
We might as well start all over again with the next bunch of rumors untill we see the 2009's in March.

Whatever....yawn....14000.00 cdn probably....you can pick up a 05 or 06 put a turbo on it and still go to the bank with other money for mods....still thinking xp now...until march I hope...yawn

I don't really understand your thinking here Fort Mac...we know we're not getting anything close to the XP in weight (just the nature of the beast/Yamaha) and you've got a sled with 275hp which you're not going to see from any stock sled (or an XP). What were you expecting? And if weight were that big of a concern to you the MTX (nytro) is alot lighter then the RX platform and still responds to boost nicely..

We seem to do this to ourselves every year...we start all these "wish lists" and build hype ourselves then people are pissed when the dreams don't become reality. It's the same EVERY year.

I was disapointed at first but this sled fits the line up like a glove,Still the rest of the line up to come! As stated above,People come up with HUGE ideas that they dream about then when it dont come true they get mad!

Sorry, but it looks like they took a step backwards with the rear suspension, borrowing the old style Nytro/Apex rear arm transfer/coupling assembly. The '08 Nytro has a much better setup. Hope they keep that in the 121" sleds.

You'll have to wait to looka closer at the refinements made to our first year models. There is no way to expect that Yamaha will totally re-vamp the Nytro line up just because Doo comes out with another 'flexible flier'.
They really haven't released much for us to look at, and the service manager at my local dealer hinted to me yesterday to watch for some major changes to the Apex line. For the masses, the Nytro is perfect. The old addage that you can't please everybody is very true. SOme love it, some don't.
I personally don't care of it weighs less than the DOO, because my Yamaha will still be a better quality sled!

very well said DoktorC
seems like it is getting worse, the wish lists turn into biotch fests.
I mean for Gods sake, the dollar is shrinking (US) the sled market is shrinking, lots of economic problems in many countries, companies are thinking conservative right now.
Yamaha (or the other sled manufacturers) are not $3000 a night hookers that can cater to every individuals whim. :o|

Fort Mac, part of the problem is that Yamaha didn't hype this up nearly as much as we did. They never said this new sled was going to blow our minds and annihilate the competition. They just said check out the new sled on Feb. 8, that's it. The fact that this isn't everything you wanted wraped into a nice neat package doesn't mean your ultimate sled isn't coming, it just means this isn't the one...for you. My ultimate sled is already here...it's in my garage!

Yamaha doesn't need to make huge changes to their lineup; it's already awesome. What they are doing is great. The XTX sounds like it will be nothing less than an incredibly fun and very capable crossover sled. Subtle refinements is all Yamaha needs to continue to move forward. The XTX is another step in the right direction for Yamaha. ;)!

My only complaint about this new sled is that Yamaha has overlooked some of the biggest complaints of their customers/potential customers. I would just about guarantee that if they would have put on a larger gas tank and redesigned the skis most of the negative posts would not exist! There would be a lot of love goin around and not all this frustration we are seeing. :whine:

I agree I thought that was a nice fit, as we shall see the rest in March as they must be holding back for some reason.

BTW............Turbo on a sled. Ask anyone who has built one what it cost them for a Turbo, Gauges & Clutching. Who is going to be willing to pay that high a price tag for that, when people are complaining about the prices for them now. Not to mention how many Yamaha would sell across canada wouldn't even be worth it to them or the consumer, that's why there is after market stuff. :flag:

I wouldn't say that I am disapointed in the sled.

I don't think it is worthy of a " wait untill 3am" viewing.

I think it was really cool idea to have the slide rails taper up 6 degrees in the rear.

The problem is, I wouldn't be happy on a 130 hp sled, so there isn't much for me to get excited about.

I might get some boo's on this next comment.

I was unloading my Apex in a parking lot last weekend and met a guy with a new Nytro.

The sound of the exhaust is less than impressive. I don't know I could deal with that. I could hear the track more than anything.

Just my 2 cents!

Take a couple lbs off my Apex and give me a few horse (more the better) and I am happy!!

here something quoted from chris's blog....
"I think it would have been very cool to have quietly put the info up on the corporate web-sites with some good photos and specs and simply said; ‘You asked for it …Well here it is’ then sit back and let the web do its thing."
Hes usually hinting at something with what he writes... Might be another "new" model in march...

I have got to agree I was very disipointed with just one sled to show me.
I do think its a impresive sled.
But take an apex and give it 175hp and I'll be happy. I know they can do it. So do it. Go ahead not only in snow cross but in customer satisfaction.
I can eat a 800 skidoo any day of the week. Its the pusy cat that I want to take down.....
