I will go with meth/water/alco injection in whatever I build for next season, would be nice running a little more boost on top or run the same boost as now with more compression :)

Wow that's way less then I would of thought (amount of methenol). I ran 25 psi with a gt35r on my car with meth injection and sucked down at least a gallon of methenol for every 10 gal of gas. How much boost do these guys run?

Have been discussing this with skydog from the site last season. He installed a meth injection kit in his '03 RX-1 turbo, he ran 15 lbs of boost on stock compression running on premium pump fuel with success. He did not experience knock on his Parker Knock Box. Hurricanes meth injection kit will do the trick keeping us safe :)
 
that's alot of boost on stock compression...that would put us pretty high with lowcomp and three gaskets....carillos is a must..I see hurricane's got all the stuff on their site...ready to do a group buy this summer?
 
With the low compression I run (9.05:1) I do not need the carrillo rods according to Erik at MCXpress, at least that's what he said.

In your application it's a must tho :) Hurricane has all the go-fast-stuff needed, have been watching his site closely since project Hurricane got rolling.

I would be in for a meth injection kit and some turbo springs for sure, maybe my friends need some stuff too. Let me know and I'll ask them.
 
what do you run in yours? Three gaskets and wisecos?

I think I'll need all the extra stuff that's avaliable for that motor...If I can save the head with the burned valves, I'll probably get it ported and see if it makes alot of difference...

I just need to get ahold of powderlites so I can start ordering the kits...
 
I am gonna be running stock compression with a base start of 15lbs of boost first few passes, then work up to 20-22lbs, and using msd ign. with timing being pulled out. Strictly 1/4 mile race asphalt only. With the fancy tuner fuels now availble(120+octane) and now this meth injection its opened up the doors to make big power.
 
Since meth injection work with boost, someone can run lower octane fuel and get all the engine response back when no boost is present and still have no deto on boost!

Seems to me like a winner combination!
 
Yeah meth injection should absolutely make our engines more safe when running high boost :)

obr - I run 2 stock gaskets stacked and Wiseco 10:1 pistions. I ran 3 gaskets initially but due to wrong torking procedure I lost the gaskets running it at 14 lbs. Dealer only had 2 gaskets in stock so I went with 2 gaskets, wanted as little downtime as possible in the middle of the first season turboed. With 3 gaskets my CR was at 8.28:1. I got some response back going with 2 gaskets and CR at 9.05:1 running it at 16 lbs on pump premium, I've had no problems so far.
 
I think you are dead safe with those numbers...we've run 15 with just the extra mcx gasket... I know some have tried even higher...

Meth sounds like something we would need... I haven't had time to read up on it yet, but I'm sure we'll figure it out... :4STroke:

I'm still wondering how much boost would be safe on premium with studs, wisecos/JE's (what would be best)? and rods...?
 
Do you mean the MCX head shim? It's 0.059" thick.
What sled? Did you use any stock head gaskets or did you use a split gasket on each side of the shim?

Yeah I'm pretty safe at 16 lbs or 1.1 bar of boost, it have survived up to 1 km WOT runs :)

If my calculations are correct, the Apex with 2 stock head gaskets and the MCX head shim running stock pistons will have a CR of 8.94:1.
Running 10:1 pistons CR will be at 7.93:1.

Meth is in my future that's for sure. Hurricane have run meth for some time so I guess he have the programming of the kit done, he should be able to set it up to work the best in our applications :) I will definitively look into raising my CR when spraying meth for even better throttle response. I will do some reading on the subject tonight.

My best guess would be somewhere between 16-18 lbs on a big turbo, and more with meth to push it past 400+ HP, you may have to pull timing at full boost. Remember MCX was able to make 370+ HP on pump premium without deto control aka meth injection. We'll figure it out :)
 
Yes, the MCX head shim...I believe this has been tried on both Apex's and Vectors, atleas I know it has been up to 1 bar...

I think we'll be able to pass the 400 mark this winter..just need to get all the stuff together...
 
Are you going have it dynoed to verify HP level? If you're going to MCX or somewhere else please let me know, I might be able to go with you. It's way cool being in the dyno room when the motor screams LOL :)
 
I think MCX has the only Dyno around that's capable of 350+ hp sleds, so Yes, I will...If we can get this sled together this summer...fast...Still waiting for that e-mail form Dave...
