2009 Nytro Clutch, roughly 8500km with new rollers and the clutch blew up on me. any ideas as to why it would snap like this with such a clean break? and just to the right you can see where the roller gouged the primary as it flew off.

If you recently installed new rollers my guess is you put something in wrong.

I might agree if it wasn't so simple..srxpert said:If you recently installed new rollers my guess is you put something in wrong.
Hit somthing? No damage to the belly pan?
I've never seen one come apart like that
When I did the bushings in my clutch it was a bitch to take apart to do the internal bushing maybe who ever dismantled the clutch fractured it taking it apart? And after a few miles she blew chunks for you.

Did you have the tower cover off? I've seen guys put the cover on and the bottom weight is on the wrong side of the roller.

Had the exact same failure on mine two years ago.

Buddy had the same thing happen last year. Casting flaw is my guess. Blew straight threw side panel and right threw his klim jacket just missing his elbow. He burrowed my clutch to get it off the mtn. Otherwise would of been a heli trip
Couple hun to repair jacket

so if this same thing has happened to others maybe its a factory flaw? maybe yamaha will cover some of the cost.

How did it get through the clutch cover?

Not possible by just taking the cover off. With the movable shiv fully collapsed the weight will not clear the roller. Not on a Yamaha clutch any way.canoehead said:Did you have the tower cover off? I've seen guys put the cover on and the bottom weight is on the wrong side of the roller.

Something went seriously wrong with your clutch! Are all your weights the same, rollers the same size, any binding? It takes a tremendous amount of force to bust the spider tower. If it was a flaw in the tower from factory it would fail much sooner.

X2 a casting imperfection would show up much sooner...

Mine was covered under yes warranty. Spider was cracked from center out and blew apart the same. Nothing flew thru the body panels. Parts hit the stirrup and bottom belly pan and side cover. All three were replaced but not a mark on clutch cover. Engine was wfo when mass migration of parts happened! Had over 4000 miles on it with stock clutching. They do break and fly apart!
