Hearing word about a new cross country series starting up in Northern WI

I know I'm tired of driving 6 hours plus for races so thought I would post word here hoping that others will get excited as well.

It's been almost 9 years since we had a WI series so hopefully everyone will come out and support this new series!!

;)!

That would be nice, that was one of the issue I had with racing. Having to go far north or west to race. I sure would attend some races. The wife is not going to be happy. Lol

For the Jr 10-13 riders we wanted to get them more track time since they are really limited to one class so we have decided to add miles to their race. Instead of the normal 10-15 mile race for these young guns we will be running them 25-30 miles depending on the course. These kids are the future of our sport and getting them more track time is extremely important to us. This will help them gain the skills and ability to be a better racer down the road!

There is another piece of exciting news for the racers; we have decided to do an end of year overall points champion in the Sport, Semi Pro, & Pro classes. These overall championships will combine the points from the respective Sprint and Distance classes and there will be awards and/or purse for these additional championships!! There will still be championships awarded for the individual classes but we wanted to create a program to find out who is the best overall rider in each division! To qualify for this combined points championship you must be a season member and race both classes each weekend, no throw-outs.

Here is a quick overview on how this will work:

  • Pro classes have a weekend payout of 80% but another 10% will go towards the Pro combined points championship
  • Semi Pro classes have a weekend payout of 70% but another 10% will go towards the Semi Pro combined points championship
  • Sport classes don’t have a payout but Curve XS skis has put up a free set of skis for the Sport combined points championship (discount certificates for 2nd & 3rd)

The 85 class is another one of our cash payout classes and will have a weekend payout of 70% but another 10% will go towards the year end points championship for them as well.

As of right now we have it set up that every class will receive money, product, or certificates for season end points!!

ALL 120 racers will receive awards at each race as well as for end of year points!!

Think SNOW!!!

We were to have a snocross race here in Somerset on December 31st as a fundraiser for a couple local organizations but with no snow we are moving the fundraising portion of the event to coincide with the Papa B's Lounge New Years party. We invite everyone to join us at Papa B’s in Somerset, WI to help us in our efforts to support these local organizations: Collide Youth Group Grace Place Food Shelf Somerset Sno-Sports snowmobile club

The fundraising will be from 5-8pm on Dec 31st. There will be food, prize raffles, 50/50 raffle, meat raffle, and Papa B’s will be offering specials for anyone that brings a food donation. All the food donations will go to the Grace Place located here in Somerset. Our goal is to fill a truck with enough food to make a huge impact for our neighbors in need. Times are tough for everyone in this economy and we want to use this event to help make an impact in our hometown, for the better!!

At 8pm there will be a DJ and Karaoke for entertainment until we ring in 2012!!

So come join us and show the Somerset community how much you care while celebrating the coming of the New year!!

January 28th race has been rescheduled, again...

We figured for sure that mother nature would have provided us the much need snow to hold the Summit Lake Game Farm race on the 28th but as of today they have 4" of snow in the woods and the fields have 1" at the most (in the good spots).

This was the last possible weekend of this season to hold the race at the Game Farm and neither of our back-up locations are available for that same weekend so we will move this round to Feb 11th and will announce very soon information for the new venue.

This will make our Feb 4th round be the opening round for the series and there is SNOW on the flowage!! We were up there Thursday and they had 6-8" of snow and it is also drifted plus there is more snow in the forecast for the upcoming weeks. Mercer is in the southern part of the lake effect belt so that is a plus for us!! The town is backing the event 100% and is excited to have a cross country series return the area after a 9 year hiatus.

Everything is all lined up and we are working with the resort to have more pit areas plowed. Since this is the first cross country race with snow in the area we are expecting a good turnout.

We do not require pre-registration but with the anticipation of larger number of riders we are requesting that riders send in their entry forms to speed up the check in process. Payment can be made then at check in (cash or check, no credit cards). They can be mailed or e-mailed to registration@corpowersports.com

There will also be a driver check-in period Friday night from 6-8 pm inside the Hideaway Resort.

Please visit www.corpowersports.com for more info or send us an email to Todd@corpowersports.com to get answers for any question

We look forward to seeing everyone on Feb 4th!!

Ok, here is the information we all have been waiting for:

Feb 11th we will be racing in Phillips, WI at the Birch Island Resort racing on the Wilson Flowage!!

We will be going up to their place on Jan 26th to finalize the course but it will not all be on the flowage as they own a 2 acre island and our plan is to include some of this into the course.

They are prepping the lake right now for an ice drag race on Jan 28th so that is why we could not hold it there the original weekend we had planned for Summit Lake. They have told me there is significant snow on the flowage so we are hoping that the weather stays cold so we will have 3 races with good snow conditions this winter!!

Our Feb 4th round in Mercer, WI has almost a foot of snow so the Turtle Flowage course will be in great race shape!! There is a lot of interest from racers outside of our normal riders so we are asking for everyone to send in the entry forms early to speed up the check-in process. There will be check-in available at the Hideaway Resort from 6-8pm on Friday night before the race and of course starting at 7am on Saturday morning.

March 3rd we will be racing at the historic Telemark Ski Resort and they have been busy making snow and spreading it around our course so even if Mother Nature does not provide they promise we will have great conditions!! After racing is completed we will celebrate the season by having our year end banquet in one of their great banquet rooms that same day. This saves all the racers the cost and time to make another trip just for the banquet.

Just updated our cross country entry form to reflect the new Team class we will be offering at every event!!

$100 per team ($50 per rider), 50% payout each weekend, 25% towards year end points purse

Rules are simple: 2 riders per team, max of 1 Pro rider per team, each rider runs 2 laps of a 4 lap race (3 laps for a 6 lap race; depends on course length & time).
