I had a 2007 Apex RTX that I loved after a re-valve and a few other adjustments. I am an aggressive trail rider and it suited me well. I am looking around at used Apex's and there is a 07 GT near me with the pioneer re-valve and big boy spring. If I added the monoshock beef up kit would it be suitable for aggressive trail riding? How do the gytr's do up front? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

I have no suspension upgrades I love the suspension, does not bottom out I am 215 lbs dry. The front is interesting I find it a little sloppy in fresh groomed trail but any more push in the front and I get ski lift. The snow trackers work really really well and the gytr in the front are really easy to adjust and seem to be doing well. I've adjusted to the slight sloppiness in order to avoid ski lift since I'd rather not have ski lift. SO I can ride really really aggressive with this sled with no worries. I am very happy but I have a limited amount to compare to. I've ridden 600tnt Phazer 97 triple and a 96 2 up> I love the 06 GT but I never had any time on a new Apex or Rmotion. Take this for what it is, hope it helps.

The monoshock handles bumps as well as anything else if you drive fast enough and set the transfer rod on the tight side. They really only bottom easily on larger bumps when driven slowly, they seem to take the hit better on the front of the rails than a more vertical motion on the back.

If you don't like the monoshock I will trade a 2007 rtx suspension for it.

So with the beef up kit it should be able to take a pounding? I know the mono rides quite a bit nicer than the proactive ck.

I wouldnt go that far. I have a Mono and have have busted many a parts (front pivot arms, both slide rails, etc...) riding it too hard through the rough stuff. That is with 2 different revalves and Big boy springs (first a 6.2 than a 6.5). I weigh 215 w/out gear. Not meant to be a trail pounder or a ditch banger, more of a plush trail sled for some mild-mannered bumps, in my opinion. I now take it alittle easier going through the heavy chop...mind you, I still ride it like I stole it as long as the trails are not whooped too bad.

I am trying the Hygear Dual rate spring this season...see what happens. Happy so far but still need to do some adjusting. Just my $.02.

Why would you go from an 07 model , to another 07 model ?
Wouldn,t it be better to jump up at least a couple of model years. Surely things have improved in 6 newer model years, haven,t they ?

Because 07 models are in my price range.

2nd season on a revalve, bigger spring and a beef up. I ride semi aggressive and sometimes our trails are really bombed out here. No breakages. I think you'll like it. Just remember its not a snow cross machine!

I have a 06 RTX with the big boy spring. I go about 3 bills dressed to ride.

I ride semi agressive on the trail, meaning I don't jump it off snow banks or any other sno cross type activity, but when the trail gets bumpy on a Saturday afternoon I squeeze the throttle a little harder because as someone else mentioned it seems to ride better if you take the bumps at speed. In that time I've had the following damage:

2 front arms broken. 1 cracked, the other broke in about 4 spots.

1 cracked rail

1 broken RA adjustment cable.

1 ripped track (from the front pivot arm breaking and digging into the track)

Obviously my weight is a big factor. If I dropped about 100 lbs I'm sure I'd see less breakage, but the skid just isn't designed for aggressive riding in my opinion. It'll feel great all the way until it fails. Having the beef up kit done is going to help also.

I probably would've swapped out to a 07-10 RTX skid if I liked how they rode, but I don't. Too stiff in my opinion. I just try to back off a little and remind myself I'd rather suffer a little more through the chop and big bumps than replace another track or pivot arm.

Buy it for a good price, nothing that cant be fixed or improved.quicker skid, get the beef-up or do your own with a custom HyGear Twisted sprung set up.GYTR are really good so far, rebuild of course.what i really like is the adjustability of the suspension,on the fly too.

I used to jump road crossings, drifts, and I used to hold it WOT across 2-3 moguls. The only part I ever broke was the front w arm and that was after 10,000 miles. I probably wont be jumping roads with the GT but I don't like slowing down for moguls. If it can't handle that with the beef up kit than I will try to find a used RTX. I'd buy a Nytro if I wasn't so afraid of bending a sub frame!
