Do I need a block heater for over night trips when the Apex will stay outside in -20 to -30 weather?
My F7 always started on the 2nd pull.....the F1000 forget it....you need 2 peaple...one to use the pull start and one to use the electric start....

if your battery is ok,you will not need it.

Spent a very cold week in QC last January. 2 Apex GTs Started up every morning, twice below -40. The sled that had trouble during the whole week spent the night in a heated garage rode out before breakfast then "froze up" during breakfast.

Never had problems with motor just my radiator fan froze and started to smell till I got the ice out of it.

Good idea to buy an extra fuel pump relay for $12.00. Lots of guys have reported them freezing up, after sitting overnight in extreme cold.

Additive to gas to make sure it does not freeze at those temps are good and wont hurt your sled.
I have seen several problems with fuel than anything.
If I remember right viper dave had a relay swapped out on his attak at the dealer and it wasnt the relay, but needing heat in the gas.

I too had this problem once just brought it inside for awhile and walla but it is good to have a spare

have a replacement fuel pump relay
My Attak failed to start last winter, change the relay to the new part number and it started right up, whole process took 5 minutes. Haven't had a problem since. The battery would turn it over but you couldn't hear the fuel pump cycle.

The relay on my Attak did the same thing. Heard a tip that just tapping on it would work, and it did. Also, you can switch the headlight relay with it to get it started and once the sled runs for a minute the headlight comes back on (Done that too). Actually, the headlight relay is still switched and everything has been working fine since, but I did go to my dealer and they gave me a new relay under warranty just in case I need it.

Can anybody break this down into more lame man terms for me please. First I dont really know what a relay does, second I dont know where it is, third I am guessing I would just go to my dealer and buy a spare, and finally how do you swap them out if you cant hear the fuel pump priming itslef. I would greatly appreciate some info on this.

The fuel pump relay is pretty much a device that controls the electrical current to the fuel pump. It is located on the left side of the snowmobile above the foot well area. You will see 4 relays mounted in there. They are little black boxes with wires going to them. One of the relays is for the fuel pump. Here is what I did. Turn the key to run position and listen for the fuel pump to turn on. Then turn key off. Now disconnect ONE RELAY AT A TIME, then turn your key to run position listening for the fuel pump to turn on. Repeat this procedure until the fuel pump does not run. Once the pump does not cycle the last relay you removed is for the fuel pump. I marked mine with some yellow paint. That way I will know which one it is should it start causing a problem. On my sled it is the 1st relay to the left.
