I just went through this. Went to get the sled ready for the season and it would not start and had code 12. Tried the pickup from the other company that you have to drill out and could not keep it aligned when
I tried to tighten it down. Bought the one from RMstator and it bolted right in. Hardest part was keeping the gasket in position when the cover was going back on. Sled fired right up. Like you said it seems to be running better now. no snow though to take it for a ride. Oh it has 26414 kms.

The one from RMstator is "doweled" like the factory piece so it is a simple remove and replace install with no measuring required. My sled is just shy of 20,000 kms. When I called my dealer last Friday to get a cover gasket, the person on the other end laughed. She said "I had 3 in stock and sold all of them today." So apparently lots have gone down this year lol. I was lucky enough my gasket did not get torn up too bad....had a big ride lined up for the next day so I chanced it and installed with the old gasket dabbing some Yamabond on the "questionable" areas. I got lucky and it has not leaked a drop of oil in 200 miles.
