I have one quite similar and the simple anwer is yes you need something if you do not have the hand warmers mod for hotter bars. I have hand guards on mine also now but they don't seam to block that much more air. So if you are riding in temps below 0 deg F I would suggest some gauntlets because that is about the point my hands go numb riding and I have to stop at every stop sign and warm my hands up on the exhaust.

is that the high or med high wind shield. The sled I just got has the low one, looks great but I can tell it is going to be cold so I want to buy another one.

It is the medium windshield. I have a buddy that had the dorky huge high windshield and I tell you what that is where the warmth is. You could ride that thing with no gloves or helmet and you wouldn't get cold! But is seriously looked like a grandpa cruiser with that huge windshield on there.

I haven't done it to mine yet but if it is really cold you won't be able to feel the warmers very well... If you want to swap the handwarmers out there is a good post in the FAQ section which is a sticky on the site. Good information for what you need and how to change the wiring of the 06 bars.

Mine came with the extra tall windshield and I have a mid height as well. The tall is A LOT warmer. The mid is noticeably colder, but not nearly as cold as riding without a windshield after you've broken it off.
I've had no problems with my handwarmers (06), they work very well.

I just bought my 06 Attak and it is finally in the garage. Have never ridden an Attak..or even a new style Yammy. It has the extra tall windshield on it(which does look a little odd)...with supports. I have been trying to compare pictures and I think it looks like the tall windshields are also wider which I am thinking is what helps with the hands. My thought has been to cut down some of the tall windshield for looks and hope the hands are still protected. Kind of like the best of both worlds. I also have a set of Heat loc handguards, pro series, that I am going to use.

That big windshield is so nice though. If you can handle the looks of a grandpa cruiser you should keep it because it will keep you really warm!
