When I stored my '08 Vector away last spring I dumped in some fuel stabilizer and ran it for 5 minutes before shutting it down and pulling the belt off. I've had it started a few times over the summer and all seems well. Just wondering what the rest of you guys do?

Specifically, do you unhook your battery and do you think I should have the carbs checked when I get it serviced for the upcoming riding season? I assume that the carb cleaning is not something that's typically included in the routine servicing...am I correct?

Lookin' forward to your words of wisdom. Gotta keep my Yammy happy. :4STroke:

I would at least siphon all of the fuel from the tank and run fresh through it. I use the hand-pump siphon units that are normally sold for kerosene use.

While you're at it, disconnect the 3 clamp screws holding the airbox to the carb intake boots and release the rubber strap in front of the airbox, then pull the airbox out and remove / clean the filter elements in the airbox. They will be somewhat saturated with oil, but this is a good time to take all of the filtering elements out of the airbox and really clean everything. Or just take the whole darned airbox out like I do.

Then, if you really feel giddy, unbolt the carb clamps and pull the carbs out of their rubber boot housing. They will pull straight out. Remove float bowls from each carb (you will leak fuel so have a shop rag handy to absorb some of the fuel) and then take out the pilot and main jets and inspect / clean. The pilots are VERY small and can gum up easily even with stabil in the tank and fuel system. I removed my pilots and mains once, and if I remember correctly, they can be accessed with a standard screwdriver.
