Wow is all i can say,my bud and i knew going up there today we could only look and sit on them, and had figured that would have to do,well they saw how dissappointed alot of us were, and around 1pm said they would release a few of the 06s ye ha now we had already driven the rx1 05 vector 05 and warior 05 several times and although we liked them,we knew there were sleds right there that would satisify us much more, and we were just minutes away from turning away and driving 3 hours back home,it was well worth the cold wait wow wee the people that did not get to ride them, justno comparison, none at all,now yammi reps and top japanese folks that were there,Thanks again,it was soo sweet, and to all you guys that think its just a little bit better than a rx1 well not even close, its that good,IMO anyway, and they told us that the main reason that they was backing out,is because in the opinion they are not calibrated to box stock calibration deminsions,i guess they thought we would of picked on there set up,but if they think these sleds are not close, than i cant wait for box stock, now they turn rev like quick, and track straight over the nastiest of bumps, and motor (quick very quick) or instant snap, never felt anything on my old rx1 clutched up or not like these loved it,and my bud has had revs in the past,he was surprised to say the least.. ;)! :4STroke: :yam:

The Apex blew me away. You said it turned Rev like quick, I thought so too. Moving the rider forward really centralizes the mass. Should make them turn easier in theory and on my ride I thought it was noticeably so.

Now the big question. Did they feel tippy compaired to the 05?
Some guys here think that because you sit higher they are more tippy.

You had some of the Japanese Yamaha guys there? Yeah they are like that. Real apologetic, worried that their products are not good enough.
But that is a good part of why Japan makes great stuff.
All in all I though they were very well set up for prototypes IMHO

Did you get a chance to ride an Attak?

You are probably waiting for mnmsnobeast to answer, but I can give you my .02
Sweet as hell. The most comfortable of all the new 4 cylinders. The monoshock and the longer track are a great combo. Did not turn quit as fast as the shorties, but you would expect that.

Sorry no,but we were hoping to,i am not sure they had it in the line up to test drive, but they did have it there and it had been ridden by the yammi reps over to the pond from pittsburge where there camps were,we noticed the skid on that model had snow and ice in the skid, and some others did not,so i asked what gives and they told us they drove them to the ride in show,so i asked why we couldent ride them, and they gave us the old proto $100,000.00 proto answer on how they were the only ones this side of the mississippi lol,but they had a change of heart, and i am soooo glad they did, sweet and it would have been even sweeter if i could of tried the attack sure looked very sweet!!! ;)!

I really bummed out after reading your posts. I drove 4 hours to sit on one of the new Apexs. I got there at 8am and hung around until noon. Now I found out that they let you guys ride later.

Sucks for me!!!

I feel your pain,i almost left early like you did,if we had not went over to watch dan race his turbo,we would of already been gone ourselfs, and i would be in your shoes, but to let you know what those of us that got lucky enough to test them, you wont be disappointed very cool sleds, and very light feeling and light to pick up.. ;)!

Apex

Was it an Apex GT or an ER? I like the sound of all that adjustability in the front shocks and the convince of the electronic Oliens rear. I am most interested in the ride quality and wonder is the GT worth the extra $$$. I have been reading all the posts and still haven't seen an answer to the question:

Does the GT have the ability to be adjusted for a soft ride like the 05 RX1?
Or should I just get the ER?

Like some of the posts ask, does it need to be revalved like my 02 Viper? On the Viper I did the Shock update and it was the best thing I ever did. The sled has over 9800 miles on it and it is still the best sled I ever owned. I plan on dumping my 05 because of too many issues. My dealer keeps telling me they can fix my issues. But after 5 trips to dealers and the fact I can't trust it not to overheat I wasn't able to do any long overnight trips. I stopped riding it and went back to the Viper. Pretty sad hugh? I have spoken with dozens of other Rx owners on the trail and they are amazed at my issues. I think I just got a bad one……

Thanks everyone for all the responses in the past.

2 Appex ER's and one Attak. Reps said they were not to the final US specs. Thats why they did not want the public to ride them. In talking to one of the techs. he told us that the Attak was tried in Pittsburg and was not transfering correctly [to much transfer]. He adjusted the suspension and got it close. Close, close, I thought it was right on. Clutching was smooth, rear was smooth even over the rough on the pond. I felt more in control with these 2 sleds than I have ever felt on any machine I have ridden before. THANK YOU YAMAHA!! ;)!

My idea is to get the gt but like you i dont want it to stiff either, the ER we drove were sweet,i just hope the gt rides as nice, think they will,as they have them listed for groomed trail.. ;)!

JMCRXONE drove the Attak today. He just came over my house and told me it was sweeeeeeet.... Very responsive and the ride forward was great. He just loved the chance to ride the new attak. He said the Yamaha Reps were great to talk too and wanted to hear from everyone. Nice Job Yamaha...
