Race day at the lake. Guys on ice in 650 and above stock turning 108 in 1000'. Then we move over to the snow track for us non-studded guys like me. Very loose snow over ice at the start, some bare ice about 500'. Then fairly decent to 1000'. Well with all the spinning I turned 72, 76 and 73 in 3 consecutive runs. Guess what, my times were the best. That's awful. 900, 800 and even Thunder Cats were all under 70, 69 and change some. I'm sure disappointing speeds for all, but kudos even at that for the Apex ER. On each run by approximately 1250' I was registering 91,92 and 87 by GPS. Amazing what happens after getting a good bite, around 550'.

Stock everything. There were sleds running studs as well, this didn't help the non-studded sleds. There was no way to get on-it hard at the starting line, then at about 500' the track would break loose on bare ice. Much to my surprise the snow track was in competition with the ice track, no separation for type of track so the snow track runners had no chance to beat an ice racer, which in my class they turned 108.9 on bare ice. So money to enter was just to find out how fast you could run in 1000'. I had fun anyway. Basically wanted folks to know a 4 stroke is competitive and mine was the only one there. Even the timekeeper turned to my son and said, "that was really a great run and the best speed we have seen". At least made me feel better for running slow.
