Hey guys I bought my Apex at the end of last years winter season. So I only had the opportunity to go out to Simon Lake near my home on the few Saturdays and take a few runs on a decent plowed sheet of ice. I was getting better speeds in the mornings colder ice at 116 mph pretty constantly. There was a Artic Cat F-1000 with me and he was at 118 mph. The afternoon my speed would drop to 114 mph guess due to ice getting pretty slushy.

I'm just curious on what kind of speeds you all have been getting on your sleds does not have to be just the Apex. I'm told by some people the Apex's are slow but why is that when you have a 1,000 cc. Is it just due to the weight of a 4-stroke?

Anyhow hope to hear on some feedback from you guys since the last few years I could not ride at all and I am wondering how the new and older sleds are doing for radar runs.

Dam now after reading over what I wrote I'm asking alot of questions. Oh well it will make for a interesting post I hope.

Talk to all soon...

We ran up at Rib Lake a few years back. There were several of us well over 120. My best run was 123. This was bare ice and 1/2 mile. Most bone stockers were anywhere from 114-117.

whoever told you that apex's are slow are mentally challenged.

So guess with some clutching well over 120 mph is possible? Or do I have to get into the cold air intake, Bender Exhaust to get it up there? By the way I have 98 Woodys studs down the center of the track. And it hooks up real nice. Was told anymore than that is just adding weight for nothing. Also studs on the outside can get torn off when aggressive driving on the trails.

Just looking for a setup that is great for trail riding and will blow the visors off guys when I pass then on the lake.

Thanks for any advice guys it's very much appreciated. Spent allot of time and money on other sleds that I have owned and this Apex is the best thing I could have ever wanted.

Stock my 05 RX-1 hit 117 on an ice track. The following summer I put $4000 in it in the form of a turbo and touched 154 on radar the following winter. There were a couple built 2 stroke ski doos up there, one was a 1200 tripple drag sled, another was a new MXZ 800R that was all built up with well over my little $4000 invested and the fastest times they were getting was 128-129... So whoever said yamahas were slow... may be a little slow themselves..... lol....

My Apex with clutching, air box and power commander set up ran 120 in 2000 ft at the radar runs at Rockies last year - and with My girlfriend ran 127 on glare ice in about 3500 ft on lake Simcoe at the end of last season.
