I bought and installed a marginal snow kit over the summer. I have the reciepts and instructions, and I distinctly remember installing it. Checking out the skid today, no wheels!!! Has anyone else had issues with these vanishing?

That's one of the reason's I don't run 'em. Besides freezing up and not turning which wears a flat spot, I've had more than one come off. And yes, I put thread lock on each mount.

Yup. Same here. Must use red locktite, and even then, if you let the bearings go bad, you be left with nothing but the inner race. They spin so fast that it's tough on the bearings.

Same here. Mid wheel kit will not stay on.
Fix power sports told me that I am the only one having this problem.
Locktite did not help. I only have this problem with the mid wheel kit.
I asked fix to sell me one side and they said no (and very rude about it).
It's not like I tried to get it for free. Just spent $300.00 with them.
I still would be ok with them if they just were not rude to me.

Im fairly certain you can get individual parts and the kits from wahl bros....
another idea is a nord-lock anti vibration locking fastenr...or even drill and wire tie or cotter key

I just run the stock mounts and stock wheels. They cost about the same and look better.

Same here, I put red locktite and still lost one,
The marginal snow wheel kit takes a beating when they are installed in the front of the rails (where they are needed),
I put them on because of the slider issues but don't really need them because I rearly ride in marginal snow condition
When riding in decent snow slides last...

I looked at the instructions, placed the wheels in the location shown. They were exactly where my wear was the worst! I thought this kit would be fantastic. The wheels were small, I was more worried about them wearing out than falling off. I'm not going to bother replacing them. With the price of this kit, I'd rather spend more on sliders... that won't disappear.Fabio said:The marginal snow wheel kit takes a beating when they are installed in the front of the rails (where they are needed)

I just put a set on...
I just put a set on and I was thinking to myself while doing it that I'd be awful mad if they flew off. I hate to hear that is exactly what they do. I mounted them mid skid because that's where my hyfax wore the most. I did locktite them though -- guess I'll just have to wait and see!

In the last two seasons I have lost two of the Yamaha marginal snow wheels which I have mounted on the fronts of the rails despite using red Loctite. I just checked them at the beginning of the season and found one to have a bad bearing which I replaced.

The Yamaha marginal snow wheels use a 6004 bearing.

I really think the key is keeping good brgs in them. Because of how fast they are spinning, they wear out very quickly. I think I'm just going to replace the brgs every 1000 miles at the most. They just don't seem to last for a full season of riding.
