X games and Yamaha

Only hole shot that Yamaha didn't get was in the main when Titus was napping and left after he spotted the field a sled an half off the line

I only saw the heat races, and didn't stick around to watch the main because the network that was carrying ESPN's broadcast was taking forever to to get around to it and I didn't feel like spending the better of the day sitting in front of the TV. In my area, ESPN's X-games coverage ran from 12-5pm! So I never saw that supercharged Cat pull out in front of the field in the main event until the youtube link was posted here.

Seems like some of the folks posting here are doing their best to put a negative spin on Yamaha's showing ... but as is usually the case, most people are intelligent enough to see through the smoke and form their own opinion. IMO, it looked like Yamaha did pretty well and I think they would have done even better under a different format.

Doesn't matter what happened, what broke, whose wiring harness it is, whose lighter the one thing that I believe that everyone is missing even Yamaha, is the word "KARMA " that's what happens when you put your engine in someone else's chassis that wasn't made for it. That kitty sure was hauling the mail.

Ain't KARMA a bitch!

Smh. Like the agreement or not it's support the brand and the 4stroke or switch brands. It's really your only choices. And the chassis seems to fit the nytro motor just fine imo

Like I said, some people posting on this thread are just stirring the pot. You can always see through their BS though ...

This is the same thing I have heard for the last 11 years from the Yamaha faithful , your on hear bashing Y . I don't believe wanting better results than 3rd and newer updated designs from Y as a customer or fan is bashing or trying to put some negative spin on things, if some are satisfied with these results that's great. But i am tired of being third or not even making the podium on a regular basis for the last 12 years as a fan / customer, maybe thats why we are at where we are with the latest gen of sleds from Y, just being satisfied with what Y gives us. How can I continue to believe in Y and what they say when there R&D and racing programs are so inconsistent and almost non exsistent that it makes me think no wonder they haven't developed anything new since the Nytro, don't even get me started on the lack of new development on the flagship. I'am sorry if I have offended one or all.

Actually if you look at the bare pro cross chassis with the motor in it at a side view, you will see that the motor is still sitting high. There is about a 2 to 3 inch gap from the motor to chassis, not really a made for motor chassis, just a band aid in my opinion.

To me at least, the BS is in the intent. Seems like the intent of this thread was not to talk about the X-games bringing back hillcross racing, but more of an opportunity to do some brand bashing.

GYTR: you posted the rebuttal before I even spoke up ... Seems to me you understand exactly what I'm implying, which sort of affirms the implication don't you think?

One thing I won't do is sink to that level ... you won't hear me bashing another brand. If anything, the opposite is true. I'm quick to point out the positives in other brands.

I own a %*^+=%# Yamaha , and this thread wasn't about xgames bringing back %^*=+%# hillcross. It' about lack of conviction from Y, it' s about not revamping completely the vector, apex , phaser line in years, it's about Nytro customers complaining about twitchy steering and being ignored, it's about bailing on the Nytro after a few years because Y was to damn lazy to make it better it was just easier to get rid of it, it's about not listening to your customers when they say the handwarmers don't work properly and are ignored, it's about not having zerk fittings on the mono suspension when it first came out, it's about having only one seal on the speedo bearing leaving one side exposed to the elements. So if you think that customers expressing there feelings and thoughts about the product they enjoy and want to see advance further, at a faster pace as bashing or intent than I guess that's what is is. I respect your opinions and feelings toward Y, and as an owner and fan/ customer I don' t understand why you don't respect mine when it's only the truth.

On a side note the cat was a supercharged 800 with aftermarket pistons and reeds...and made an "uncomfortable amount of power" on race gas. I figured it would be bigger but I guess they are limited to 800cc.

I totally wanna see factory race sleds for xc/sx and an incentive program. Truth is the biggest disadvantage is perception. They proved a 4stroke is plenty competitive and if priveteers start to run them it will help. With the rtx le 1.7 offered this year it's the largest step in the right direction. With the xc team and mountain team getting better and better results it may encourage some to give them a try. And the cross brands will give much larger groups of aftermarket supporters. Would I like to see a all yammi machine yes. Maybe they are using this as a long bandaid to retool and maybe head to more exotic materials for a 97-98 sx/srx revamp with something super light.

A podium finish is fantastic...gytr unless you've done better you really don't have much to complain about. The team did a great job.

Race sleds break....it's part of their charm. Yamaha or not when you push stuff to 11 things can and do break. The sled is sooo far from production there is no reason to think it has AC electronics...it's likely hand built like the rest of the sled.

Yamaha is slow to develop sleds...obviously. gytr is riding an RX FFS...that's at least 10 model years old....not broken is it? Mine's an 06...still works awesome...so we don't buy new sleds often enough...the sleds are just too darn good.

What's the point of buying a newer sled when my 03 is just as fast as an 07, if Y were to offer me more than just BNG on the Apex year after year I would buy it. There sleds are more the good, but it's the same plain old bagel year after year that's why many purchased Vipers they were desperate for change and wanted something better, and don't think for one minute that tomorrow if Y built an all new Y sled in all the categories that we all wouldn't be putting our sleds up for sale, maybe even the 14/15 viper guys.
