It is 400 amps for 8 seconds, here is a link to the complete specs
http://www.ultimate-sounds.com/xstatic/c2.htm
I know that there are batteries that will save some weight 4 a lot cheaper.
But this is probably the ultimate in weight savings and it is
Metal Film technology which is a completely different hi-tech animal.
This is my plan for extremely small jumper cables, in case I need a back-up, that are easy to use
I am going to wire an acc jack on my sled and go straight to the battery. http://www.accumate.co.uk/it020002.html
+ I'll put an accessory plug on my optimate http://www.accumate.co.uk/it020003.html
This one is much more compact than the Yamie compact jumpers.
http://www.motorcyclebatteriesusa.com/m ... attery=101
It will be cool hooking up the charger or jump starting...without even opening up the hood

I'm very interested. Is this a better battery?? I know its smaller but the stock one say's it is only 270 cca as opposed to 400. So what's the difference because my battery say's its an 18ah and this one is a 9ah. So what gives???

This battery give you more amps but it is gonna be for a shorter time.
In other words say you flooded the motor and you really did a lot of cranking, this battery would be out of charge right around twice as fast as the stock battery. With my plan if that happens, I'll plug my little cable into my acc jack, clamp on one of my groups battery and be off and running.
Also the guys in that other thread say that they work fine.
Another example I have one of these http://www.batterymart.com/battery.mv?p=ODY-PC680
In my 03 3.5L Nissan maxima, it weighs 12 lbs and I can leave it parked at the airport for a week in the dead of winter it starts fine.

shoot Tork that looks like the same size as what's in the rx-1 now. So if I'm understanding you correctly this will turn the sled over substantially faster than the normal battery? Is that correct? ANd should I flood it then I would really only have about 4 good turns of the key before I was S.O.L. RIGHT!

No it wont really turn over faster, that is more in the volts than the amps.
It is a guess, but perhaps 8-12 10 second stabs at trying to start it
And yes that little m cycle/snowmobile sized odyssey starts my 3500 cc car engine just fine

Well my battery sucks so let me know how the following gathers. I am not gonna lie but I am gaggin a bit on the cost though however the added convenience of getting to that damn filter
does interest me. Where the hell we gonna put it though??

This is not the only way to go. Other guys have moved the battery (stock one) to the bulkhead and have eliminated the stock bracket giving them better access to the oil filter. Plus others have used smaller conventional batteries. This is NOT your only option (see welteracers post). But if you go to the thread linked back in the first post you can see where superdave mounted his.
This is more for guys that are obsessive about shedding weight.
It is cheaper per 'lost pound/$' than a boss seat though, by quite a bit.

Hey Tork; I found a plug that matches the plug on the +/- leads on the Optimate charger at a hobby shop (it's used on electric cars / trucks / boat etc.). I made up more permanent harnessess like the one that came with the charger at a cost of less than $2 ea. I put a harness on my wing, dirtbike, boat.... so using the charger is really handy.

Nice work JDK, would you happen to have a manufacturers name or link so I can buy em online?
I am now going to go with these plugs and panel jack
http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/pr ... ?Item=PLUG
They are 2/3 of the size (same as what BMW uses) and they will work with my electrically heated vest and all my other BMW stuff.
No way would I pay $45 for the Yammie plug and jack.

I see that Hartman is offering a Gel type battery for the RX-1 that shaves off 6.5 lbs. for $135.00. Might be worth looking into if you need a battery. www.hartman.com

Hey guys, I don't mean to poop on anyones corn flakes but I have used these Batt Caps from Xtatic before and there is no way I would be out on a trail and depend on this thing to start my sled.
I compete in sound offs with my 64 Impala and this Ray guy sent me 3 of the 800 batcaps to use. After my 3rd set I went to 2 of a 6 volt Optima wired in series to make 12 volts for my system. I couldnt use a full battery because the space was made to fit 3 of these batcaps.
They cannot be charged with a conventional battery charger or they melt. If you run them on any regular charging system for more than 3 hours straight, they melt. And when put in line with a regular battery, they destroy the regular battery in like 2 weeks.
They were originally designed to give a short 3 second high output burst for SPL competitions. They are 1/4 battery and 3/4 cap. A cap is something that stores up power and lets it fly when demanded. The drawback is it is a very short burst and I do not think it will be enough to start an RX-1 but I could be dead wrong.
If youse guys are still interested in running these, get a count of how many you want, because I think I am still set up with Ray and I might be able to get better pricing for ya. Here's the kicker, I just threw 6 of them away last week, although they were all junk................Cubby

The website for hartman is actually hartmaninc.com and they do have a better battery for dependability and weight combo. I think this would be the battey I would prefer.
