Ok guys I put the suspension back in with the shocks unhooked. Near as I can tell with the rear of the suspension down and the front compressed to a point that gets the rail tips the closest to the drivers I could roll a 5/8 bolt through with some gap. I could not get a 3/4 bolt to go through, so I am guessing that the gap is around 11/16. No real good way to get a tape measure in there to get any kind of accurate measurement.

I do not have any avid extros here, can someone measure theirs and see how much taller they are than a normal driver.

Hope this will clear this up for all of us wanting to put them in.

thanks,

Are you rolling a long bolt across the stock driver's?
Most extrovert teeth are approx 1" at they're tallest point I believe.
I'm thinking about going with a 146" track and 2.86" 8 tooth anti-ratchet drivers. They are with'n a 1/16" in total diameter as the 9 tooth 2.52 driver. I figure with the 146" track, I can move the skid back approx 1". This should get the clearance needed for rail to extrovert teeth clearance. Also helps with the approach angle to.

Avid's

The finger on Avid's is 3/4". I don't think they will have enough clearance without cutting the rails. However, I never actually installed mine.

Well I talked to the Avid guys today and they said it is .70 standout I believe so you are close LeeK0.

He thought by shaving a little off the rail and maybe a little plastic off the tip to gain about 1/4 inch that it would be workable, but he had only seen pictures of how close it is.

Guess i will gamble and go with the 9 toothers.

Hope it works.

drivers

I purchased the drivers from Avid and sent them the pictures. I decided not to run them because I didn't want to take the chance they would not fit and have to cut the rails.

I am really disappointed I will not be running them. They look like excellent pieces and I really liked the idea of running extros.

Let me know how it works out.

for what it is worth tonight I got out the dremel and tape measure. I cut 1/4 inch off the rails and slide and will have room to drill new holes to put the tip protector back on. The holes will be right next to each other, but I see no reason why that should give any trouble. After putting the protectors back on you will never know it from new. This should give me enough room and if I want a little bit more It looked like I could take another 1/4 inch off the front of the protector which would make lots of room. I am going to order the 9 tooth 2.52's and not look back.

Hope this helps others.
