gearing
I went to a 20 tooth top gear and left the 39 bottom in mine when i went to the back country. I thought it worked real well, pulled hard out of the corners and sill had good top end. However, i never ran it with the 21/39. I'd gear down.

If i was putting on a back country I would definately gear down to a 20 top tooth.

I have an 09 xtx with 1.75" backcountry. I went to 8 tooth extrovert drivers and it works great

8 tooth drivers will drop ya 2 teeth on top & also mess up your shallow approach angle. Not recommended.

I geared down 1 tooth also, for 20/39. I took the first and only ride of this year last week, on loose snow, and rpm's seems good with the stock clutching, so i think it couldnt be better.
