XTX has some different clutching

Just started ripping out the stock clutching on my XTX...&...hey...wait a minute.....this ain,t the same.Primary spring has changed from y-s-y to b-s-b(less total force).
After taking the primary apart I noticed the weights & rollers are the same but they changed the way they loaded the weights.
if I rember the fx had the lightest rivet in the tip with 2 heavy ones inner & middle. The xtx now has the heavy rivets mid & tip with a lighter inner.
I just might throw the stock primary back in & see if these 2 changes made any diff from the 08-09 shorties.
Anyway...slight clutching diff in the XTX vs the shorties.

It is interesting. It is basically backwards of the way they clutch the shorties. In theory ; with these clutching changes it should give the xtx better top end. I would done it the other way but the only way to tell how they work is to line up a shortie & a xtx head to head with similar weight riders with equal mileage on the sleds.

Good info Turk! I had posted about this a while back to see if anyone had dissected theres yet, I was gonna check mine out this weekend. Is the helix and sec spring same as 08 shorties?? Did you check the gearing on the xtx. Thanks

Helix on a XTX is a 43* White spring set at 70*. Not sure what the shorties have.
Gearing is 21/39 on the XTX

Shorties have a pink at 80 wrap with a 43 helix.
gearing is the same on both.

When I spoke with Allen Ulmer yesterday he told me not to buy his stage two clutching for a XTX, it comes with a 22 top gear I believe and he told me the XTX seems to love the stock gearing, they tested alot and found that stock is best, Now what other company would deture you from spending more money with them to get the best results? I can tell you I will purchase the rest of my performance needs from Ulmer Racing if at all possible.

Allan told me the same thing, not to buy the stage 2 but the stage 1 would show some modest gains. I as well will support him when buying add ons, honesty goes a long way and just the fact that he responds as quickly as he does to any questions shows his commitment to his customers.

The snow can not get here soon enough. Finished up my mountain mods, on the XTX and she's ready to go! On a quiet night I can even hear it out in the shop, begging to go for a ride!
