Try to get this thing figured out. I have a 11 nytro xtx and the thig is just a bear to steer. I have 4 inch duallys and no studs. How can I lesson the steering effort with out creating a terrible push?

I would suggest trying you soften the rebound on your front shocks couple clicks..

Sj, I read the suggested set up from the sticky but do you think this will be to soft for aggressive rough trail riding?

its a start point...you can always add in more...
his concern is steering effort/handling....get the best out of what you have and live with the rest...its not a true ditch banger......

With couple enhancements to the skid along with the the right shock calibrations it makes a great ditch banger. It's the cost associated with setting up the shocks to achieve what you are looking for.

I should have been more clear...out of the box...its not a true ditch banger...you can spend some serious coin to get it there...

as ive said...let out the limiters....loosen the front shock springs til rattle loose while in the air then tighten a tad....tighten center shock spring ...start with full soft compression and rebound...tune from there...

Hygear tripple rate springs, 6.9 Pilot Ski's worked great for me.

You can't.... You can adjust it a bit, but it's the nature of the beast. The nytro has very heavy steering and there is not much you can do to fix it. Hygear suspension has a great setup, but it's 800.00 to get it and it won't cure all of it, but will get rid of 50 percent of it...

X2 Steering effort is a night and day difference with this combination.

I had to go and look at Yamaha's site because I didn't know what the XTX is so it is a crossover type sled with a 144" track for flotation....and what looks like the same old 5" skis (or the new type ski but still teeny tiny)! A $14000 snowmobile with those skis is a bit disappointing to say the least. The small skis just sink in the trails on those heavy machines. My VL steered very hard as well especially on soft trails until I switched to Slydog PH and the steering effort was reduced significantly - a big big improvementDoc04viper-s said:Try to get this thing figured out.
