XTX Steering

I had Slydog Powderhounds with Bergstrom Triples, shims, and ski savers on my Attak, and my wife had the stock ski's on her Phazer. She said that she would rather ride on the Attak than her Phazer because it steered easier and went wherever she pointed it. Keep in mind that the Attak is about 100 pounds heavier than the Phazer. I put the same setup on our Nytro XTX 's. Unfortunately, unable to ride as of yet due to low snow conditions.

rode a demo last year with lots of transfer. steering was effortless, but it was kinda hard to keep the skis on the ground if you stabbed the throttle!!

Glad to hear the Simmons work good on the XTX. i rode a warrior with them last year and had to have them on my new Xtx. they should be in anyday now... :jump:

transfer rods when zero transfer creates a lot of ski pressure as you adjust in transfer your suspension collapses easier and the two rear shock react more independantly thus reducing ski pressure in many situations....typically the more transfer the lesser the rear suspensions bump handling ability..

Thanks for all of the help. I will add more transfer and see how it feels. I'm hesitant to loosen the limiter straps because I think it would hurt the performance in powder. A lot of folks say the Powder Pros and simmons skis are easier steering than Yamaha mountain skis. Has anyone tried both Powder Pro's and Simmons on an XTX? If so which had lighter steering effort? Thanks again for your help!

I:ve ridin a 2004 Renegade that I have set up to carve w/great steering using pilots. Aflter 300 miles on my new XTX I was worried also...... I got it to carve and stter great with little effort by varying from Stock by:

-taking the COmpression on all the shocks to the lowest position, keeping rebound stock.
-increasing the spring on the rear center a bit
-using the throttle and loading the rear skid up a little sooner in the corners....
Everything else is stock set-up wrt limiter, etc

No issues now.... Rides like my REV w/no real hard steering. Before I did all this... I was going to have to sell it. Now.... I'm keeping it.. I beginging to warm up to it and smile now: as are all my REV friends looking for the four stroke. I may swap out the pilots next. PS~ I'm 50, so the hard steering is not for me! Next issue.. need to fix the hand warmers and a little more cold weather protection.

I maxed out the center shock, and added a lot more transfer. I took it our for a quick ride around the neighborhood and it seems to steer a good bit easier. It was 18 below and I all I had on was sweats, so I didn't spend too much time testing. I am still interested in the Powder Pro's or Simmons Gen II. I've read that both of these skis are easier to steer on an XTX than the Yamaha mountain skis. I you have experience with both, please let me know you thoughts. Thanks

loosening limiter strap will be the best i tightened mine one hole to get more ski pressure because i like it to bite in the corners and you can also tighten your front shock in rear suspension

tightening the front rear shock spring decreases ski pressure..but can have negative affects on handling or ride quality if taken too far.....loosening the limiter decreases as well
