I'm trying to get the sled all ready for the snow, I have not ridden it yet as I just recently bought it, what would be a good initial suspension set up for a rider weighing roughly 180 pounds? Im pretty sure the suspensions already at the stock settings. Iv added split rail skis so that should help with the handling also.
Thanks

first ride

I would just leave it where it is and ride it and go from there, factory settings are set up an average man... ride it and see what you think... where did you get the split rails?? and what did they set you back?? thanks

eeek dont do that.
go look in the xtx suspension thread.
jack front end up, back springs off till the rattle, then snug up just a lil.
turn all clickers to full soft, ride easy and keep stiffening clickers till you dont bottom.
i think im at like 5 clicks from full soft on front and 6 on front track shock. i also added 1/4" preload to front track spring. your prob too light to need that.
torsion springs on medium.
never bottoms harsh. THINK i may have bottomed 3 times since ive owned it....once was a busted bridge and other 2 were moguls as big as volkswagens at 75. but like i said its not harsh...just seemed like suspension slowed then stopped. not even sure if it did bottom out.
def not the spine tinglers the ol SRX gave to be sure it bottomed out.
and this would be track suspension not skis that im using all the travel on.
im 205 Without gear

ya, i added 1/4" wasnt sure if hed still want to do that with his light weight but guess it wouldnt hurt.

Everybody is looking for something in handling so this is just a baseline and will need to adjust to fine tune.

Can you still jump with it set up that way. I weigh about 210 and I'm looking for a good place to start

When I bought the sled the guy had a pair of skis that he was getting shipped to him, he called me up on the weekend and I went to get them and they were the split rail skis, he bought them from Split Rail Inc. in Bracebridge ON, they set him back $1054 and I think that was with carbides also.

can u jump? ya, but if your going crazy id prob turn clickers up a ways. start small and see what it does. if your using all your travel on a 3ft booter then you def need adjustments before hucking 80' gaps.
I dont have the terrain for huge jumps so i dont do them.

on another note:
$1054 for a pair of skis? and people thought i was crazy! thats all i spent on all my upgrades....for the phazer maybe!
think i'll stick to my $350 simmons

Ha I thought it was crazy to, but then again he had more money them he knew what to do with. So it's a good idea to tighten te preload on the rear front spring a little? What about the rebound clickers, do most leave them at stock?

$1000 bucks for Split Rails??? C'mon are they really that much better? It really just seems like a gimmick to me anyway but perhaps someone who has them can educate me?

I tested them the season before they were put on the market and I can tell you that they are not a gimmick. 3 years in testing in every possibel condition...including Revestoke BC. They are the perfect match to a Nytro! Don't forget that they come with a completely new spindle.

To the OP...check in the FAQ section, SJ had setting for an XTX and I believe he is not a big guy..150-160lb I think.

I can't wait for snow so I can try them out! I think I may have to check alignment and toe of the ski, when I was looking at the sled from the front the left ski seems to sit on the shop floor pretty flat where as the right one seems to have a little more tilt to it, or doesn't seem to sit as flat, not to sure why. I checked out the suspension spread sheets but couldn't find any info on what guys where running for rebound.

good question. not sure if i adjusted the rebound.
im pretty sure the thread said to do the same thing, zero it out and add back in, but i dont remember touching it.
