So I have a magnaflow under tunnel exhaust that is tucked up pretty tight to the top of the tunnel. I removed the tunnel protectors up to the middle bracket so the front of the tunnel/headers have some protection still. I however want to stud my 1.25" ripsaw this year and see if I can get more power to the ground but am worried about clearance. I run my track fairly loose but not enough so it ever ratchets. Im sure once the studs are installed it might need another turn or two to prevent ratcheting.
Anyways what kind of clearance do I need so the muffler doesn't get ripped apart by studs? What does everyone else run w/ or w/o problems?

I have run same setup for two seasons with no problems. I do have the magnaflow muffler pretty far back in the tunnel, also have full protectors.

Yeah since I have no protectors since the muffler was larger than I thought mine sits at about the same distance from the tunnel as the protectors would have.

my muffler has a few dents and dings from trail debris, but no marks or rips from studs. i switched to a 1.75 track (no studs) for this season and appears to be plenty of clearance. you should be good to go.

I think if I move it back like 4-5 inches away from the rear bracket were the track wraps around I should be good. I think that would be the main point of contact anyways.

I would not run studs without tunnel protectors. I think they will rip the pipe apart. That track has some pretty good force on it at 100 mph. I always run studs and have always put in tunnel protectors. Why don't you pu the stock ones back in?

If you don't have protectors I would just upgrade to a 1.5 or 1.75 inch track people say they feel like they gain 20hp on the butt dyno because of the increased efficiency putting the power to the ground.
