During the Yamaha demo rides last week I got a real brief try on the new Apex XTX. I noticed a slight vibration in the drive system somewhere, not bad, but definitely noticeable compared to the super smooth 128 sleds. Is this normal for the extra 2 ft of track or was there likely something wrong. I've had no experience with anything besides a standard 121 inch track sled.
Was it a high speed pass? I noticed some vibration in my 2012 XTX this weekend. I only have 350 miles on it. My first 150 were very carefully ridden so as to properly break in the engine. at about 275-300 I really started to play with it, and I did notice some vibration at around 107-113mph on the dream meter. I run a VERY loose track, so I am thinking that may ahve been part of it.
Can someone else chime in on this? Any other loose track Apex XTX vibrations at high speed?

My track is looser than the manual states, but not like most guys have theirs. I have studs.
No vibration at high speed.
No vibration at high speed.
I'll check the chain tensioner tonight. I believe my dealer told me at 300 miles to loosen the lock nut, hand tighten the bolt and back off just a hair to allow for the 300 mile chain break in. Does that sound right? That could be causing a little vibration at those speeds and rpms coudnlt it?

Ice build up maybe? Had it happen before and it can be noticeable.
Thanks guys. Its gotta be one or a combination of three things. Ice buildup (snow was wicked heavy and sticky, watery), chain tension, and/or track too loose. I am so NOT wanting hyfax wear I may be overdoing it with the track as loose as I am running it. I do love extroverts however, they are FANTASTIC. The XTX continues to be a real head turner and a thrill on the trail.
