This being my first new sled in humpteen years I'm trying to find enough reasons to take part in the Yamaha extended service program. What's the general take on this. I couldn't find any older threads to help, but I have read quite a bit on some of the flaws with these machines. For example my wifes Phazer which was only a year old when we bought required the front ball joints to be replaced. I spoke to my "dealer" and he showed me the Yam Service Bulletin and explained I was about 7 months over their timeline. All and all they were pretty good and gave me the ball joints at cost and lent me the puller/press. My real question is if I keep on top of the bulletins and check/rectify the discrepancies do I need extended warranty short of a catostrophic engine fail? Thanks in advance.
PLUS I JUST LOOKED INTO THIS AND 1 YEAR (CANADIAN WARRANTY) IS $923.95 AND FOR 2 YEARS $1096.95 C'MON YAMAHA CA. AT LEAST LET ME PUT ON SOME LIPSTICK AND PINCH MY NIPPLES BEFORE YOU BEND ME OVER!!! GOOD OLE "OH YOU LIVE IN CANADA " SO YOU CAN PAY 3 X MORE THAN EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD. I GOT 2 WORDS FOR YOU YAMAHA CANADA AND IT'S NOT "COME HERE" :die

I bought the Y.E.S. warranty, paid for itself in a few months,, had a shock leaking oil at the comp adj knob.. same shock you have on the nytro in your avitar.. got a brand new shock ...and it has paid for itself about 4 more times since.. and if you end up selling your sled b4 the warranty expires its transferable so it goes with the sled.. great for resale.. sell a used sled with a warranty.. id buy it.. my 2 cents..

My Nytro is a 08 RTX, I bought the YES and only this year have I used it.

New rear shock ($600.00 plus free)

Pipes from motor to header, free

Left hand warmer, Free!

I recommened it, talk to your dealer. I think it is worth.

Where you from? Answer depends on it.

If a Yank, the answer is yes. You can get 4 years for about 1/2 a yard give or take. Well worth it.

Canuck, not so much.

$1,200 or so for two years as I recall. I'm a Canuck and have never purchased one. My experience with Yammie Canada they come to the party warranty or not if it is a known substantial issue so I don't bother.

I'm from Alberta there Riceburner! They should come to the party, because I'd like a good answer why the US gets an automatic 2 year warranty for the same machines where we get 1????????

The US is better Silly! 2 for 1 like your money! But for real it could be they way it would be Negotiated rulemaking, meaning this is how we want it.

YAMAHA SNOWMOBILE WARRANTY POLICY In this war ranty, the term SNOWMOBILE shall refer to a new snowmobile manufactured by the YAMAHA MOTOR COMPANY, LTD. , ('MANUFACTURER') ...

could not find a good reason. Also, I love Canada! ;)!

Hey Yooper obviously you haven't been following the trend, but our dollar has been worth more than yours for over 2 1/2 months and is expected to stay like that for the next year or two. As for rule making I'm not sure on that one unless they did it to keep the prices down in Canada.

YES

Take it from me. The yes warranty has paid for itself many times over. I personally have had my chaincase completely rebuilt, my exhaust donuts changed three or four times (once with the entire system), my entire cooling system replaced (inc. rad, exchangers, and rear crossover), the bearing behind the secondary replaced, and probably more that I forget!
There is no mileage stipulated in the warranty. I have over 14,000 miles and 13 months left on my YES.
My dealer actually told me anyone who bought a new four-stroke in the past several years and did not get the warranty is "just stupid!" :o|

So much for Yamaha dependability huh?

I have a tendency to be hard on equipment :exc:
I tried to trade it in at Pat's Yamaha in Mass City, MI and I was told "it looks like you beat that thing bloody, then beat it (again) just for bleedin'" :die
Seriously though, get the warranty. 99% chance it'll pay off!

Buying a YES really depends on your dealer if they are hard nosed and have ever delined a factory 1 year warranty claim the one that comes with the sled I would steer clear.

900 i think you can get a 5 yr on ebay here in the US. wow what a scam

Sure, not all dealers treat warranty the same. The plus about the YES program is any dealer will accept. Don't even need a card. Any dealer can pull vin and warranty info. Most dealers don't mind the warranty work, I believe it's easy money for them. They get parts and labor paid(by Yamaha). Customer pays zero and everyone wins! I don't know why any dealer would complain. I had leaky heat exchangers prior to this season. I called the dealer who sold me sled. They said they would find out coverage and call me back. Three months ago, still waiting for call! I called another local dealer, he said, "bring it by." After a two minute inspection, he said, " leave it here, we'll take care of it." When complete, I had entire cooling system replaced! Radiator too as the mounts were broke(early design flaw) Cost to me, a whopping $0
There is money allowed also for reimbursement of sled rental and lodging if these costs are incurred as a direct result of sled failure. I have made no such claims, so, I don't know details, but wow! YES = $$ well spent!
